Gigabyte X58 G1 series boards

Was just having a look through the overclockers site to see if there was anything new for the gd old x58 1366 and came across these 3 boards, seems to be v.limited info on them besides a few short videos on y'tube from CES 2011.

All I can say is OMG do I like what Gigabyte are doing these days, these are the sweetest looking boards I think I've ever seen, but I did have to do a double take at the lovely price tag that comes with them, if you thought an Asus R3E was on the pricey side you aint seen nothing yet

G1 Assassin

G1 Sniper

G1 Guerilla

Would look great with the bitspower fittings and lime green coolant. Also if we can get green mushkins (hello tom) it would amaaaazing

when i saw these boards i wanted the sniper

but at that price i would just buy a R3E and save the rest

having said that it is OCUK so it is more than likely £20-£30 more than else where

Exactly mate. I'd say if Gigabyte had bothered to bring something like these boards out 9 - 12 months ago they'd have no problem shifting them, don't see why you'd buy these over a R3E.

How is it late? An i7 970 or 980x is still more powerful than a Sandy Bridge. And plus, the 990x is coming out.

these boards are being marketed to gamers.... honestly for gaming a 2500k will be equal or greater to a 980x

and you gotta admit x58 is nearing its end

bulldozer is coming soon and so is the replacement for 1366

honestly if your getting a x58 system for gaming and you shell out for a 6 core even after the price drops... idkk i just find it very stupid at this point

I cannot believe how well the 2500k perform tbh, v.impressive. Like I said, if Gigabyte had released these boards around the time of the R3E I'm sure they'd have sold like crazy, even at their ridiculous price, as the Killer lan has been proven in loads of tests to give you naff all improvement in latency. But I can't wait to see Tom's proper review on Friday and maybe make me eat my words? Who knows

Maybe not for long though. It's known the 980X still outperforms sandybridge in benchmarks. And once games start having support for more cores...it will most likely get a better score in games too.

ive heard of the 2600k beating the 980 in *some* (i said some! jesus! lol) benchmarks..... who knows when games that take advantage of more then 4 cores will come out...

then you look at the price difference... then at the price difference of the motherboards.....

just makes more sense *to me at least* to invest in sandybridge *for gaming* instead of x58
