I have suspicions we'll be seeing more of this board in the near(ish) future...

I wonder how much it's going to be priced, I hope it's not too high and around £220. I might consider getting it but only if someone makes a waterblock for it because that magazine heatsink is a no go for me

It wouldn't be so bad if it was full size, it just looks so strange being so small and makes the 5.56mm round look odd.

It looks like they have chopped the full size one in half and stuck a 5.56mmm round sticking out of it. I'm not a fan of it though to be honest it's the only thing I don't like about the G1 series motherboards.

Yeah that wouldn't be too bad, but its actually smaller than it should be, so they've shrunk it at well. It just looks completely odd. I would of prefered either a full size magazine or AR-15 in minature or maybe just some lose rounds, spent casings or ammo belt type setup. Ah well lol.

I have a horrible feeling that it'll be more than that, especially when you consider that the Z68X-UD7 is circa £270...

Probably will end up being around that plus it being PCI-E 3.0 and all they will probably be charging a bit more when it's released. I bet all Gen 3 mobos will be priced slightly higher when they come out, i'll be waiting a couple of months till they come down a bit before I grab one anyway.

Are they planning on getting a Z68 G1.Assassin? because IF they do, i'd be so jealous, i REALLY like the color scheme, but i just built my second favor red/black, but ummm that green black looks sweet

Guys it's going to be as highly priced as the X58 versions, due to the highend audio and network chips. I know OCUK always over charge for things, so I'd say knock £30- £40 off that price and that's what it will retail for in the UK.

Tbh I think this board is perfect, I don't see the point in more the 2 x Sli/Crossfire, it will save me spending £90ish on a new soundcard to replace my slowly dying 1, it's been upgraded to Pci E 3.0 lanes and I was hoping to go with a green theme for my next build because I'm bored of the usual Red/Black and Black/Blue these days.

Although I have to say I'm curious about the claim that this board is Ivy Bridge ready, which I guess can only be a gd thing

£359.99 PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! *spits coffee over the floor* A UD7 is £100 cheaper and has just as many features.

Stuff that, I reckon though, because it's new and because it's PCI-E 3.0 the price on release will be different to the price in a couple of month's time.

A lot of retailers will play on the fact it's PCI-E 3.0 and charge extra because they now people will be rushing out to buy them but give it a couple of months and I reckon the price will come down a bit.

Well the way I look at the G1 boards is that if you knock £70 -£80 off the price to account for the highend audio as apposed to the usual sh!t all companies put on their boards, then that is a fair reflection of the actual price. I mean look at the price of the R3E Black Ed, it's like £340 becuase it has the Xonar/Network card, so your paying a premium for it, same goes with the G1 Sniper boards.

My best guess would be that it will come in around the £320 mark, which tbh is better value than the UD7 or M4E due to the built in sound/network chips (£50 more than the UD7 and £35 more than the M4E).

Just to add a twist to the PCIe 3.0 issue, it is just a BIOS upgrade, and it's now available for all 6 series Gigabyte boards

Link

I saw this earlier I didn't think you would need a BIOS update but apparently you do, also you don't even need a gen 3 mobo for PCI-E 3.0 acording to what Gigabyte are saying

"GIGABYTE Announces Entire 6 Series Ready to Support Native PCIe Gen. 3."

I did read in a thread on Aria though that

"Basically every board that doesn't have PCI-E switches or an NF200 chip is already PCI-E 3 compatible."

http://forums.aria.c...ead.php?t=71145

So there isn't even a need for a Gen 3 mobo apart from the fact that PCI-E 3.0 will be native on them. The BIOS update is to basically overclock the PCI-E chip to run at PCI-E 3.0 specifications.

So whether your mobo is runs PCI-E 3 natively or not it doesn't really matter because it will work both ways anyway
