Gigabyte M6900 Gaming Mouse Review.
Introduction
Gigabyte have produced some outstanding gaming peripherals over the years. If it is from there motherboards which are staggering for their price and do phenomenal overclocks, to their incredible graphics cards that look stunning and has great potential. Today I’ll be taking a look at their Gigabyte M6900 gaming mouse. The retail price for this mouse is £25.00 but I grabbed one of Ebuyer for £21.00 on sale, but you could get them of Ebay for a much lower price. In my opinion is this more aimed to gamer who wants to play at a high DPI setting at a low price tag so it may not have many extra features including. Given the mouse marketplace has the M6900 got enough to suit every pocket and stand proudly amongst the very best of it's price range?
First impressions
When I opened the box, I was delighted with the packaging they used despite the price it was. It came in a new styled box made of a higher end plastic material with the M6900 been printed on it giving you an overwhelming modern look. Once opened it presents you the mouse with a gold plated USB connector and support around it so it does not get damaged. Once this has been removed it reveals an array of paper work including its manual, driver and a starter guide on the mouse, explaining how it works what the buttons do and where to get help and support if needed.
Moreover after 2 days of playing around with the mouse, messing with it's software, I must honestly say I ardor it. It is an extremely well-designed product therefore having an outstanding feel to it and it really grips your hand clawing it especially being on the lower end on the spectrum of the market and you don’t realize you are holding it when it moves. Furthermore it is a fairly light weighted mouse and it does not offer any weight modifications such as the R.A.T 5 offers so it may not appeal to those with a heavy feel from a mouse. The features it includes are an On-the-fly DPI switching, 30G of added acceleration and Anti-slick ergonomic rubber grip. Also it is powered by a 3200 DPI sensor. The overall build quality is amazing but I can say it does feel quite plastic but you can’t get everything in life.
The use of an On-the-fly DPI switching is splendid, especially when you’re in the middle of a game and you don’t have time to come out of the game load up your software and change the DPI to suite what you’re doing but now all you have to do it press a button and there you have it the DPI has been changed which adds to what is an immense mouse already. Although I would change that you can make your own custom settings so when you click that button you can change it you’re your own DPI setting not just the DPI that has been integrated into the software but that’s just being picky.
Software
I went on to the website and downloaded there software, and I realize it's main purpose is to fine tune the mouse to your needs and specifications, there is also a driver provided with the mouse in the box but it was a CD and I didn't have a CD reader.
You can make custom profiles. Also change what the buttons do such as the tilt button for volume up or volume down, it has the ability to change the DPI setting which is great because not always you get the DPI you want from the DPI switcher integrated onto the mouse, so you can get better DPI changing to suite what you are doing. So overall the layout of the software is great and really easy to use and it is worth the installation. My only recommendation is they should let you enter the DPI you want instead of scrolling because you can only do a block of DPI at a time such as 800, 1200, 1600 2000 DPI but you can’t do 1100 or 1500 DPI so I would improve that.
Conclusion
Is the Gigabyte M6900 worth to reach our wallets? Yes. I would honestly say it would. Considering there is so many mice at this end of the spectrum my honest opinion it does stand out amongst it's rivals. From when I opened the box I instantly knew this was going to be fantastic and I would commend it. I would highly recommend this mouse to someone who has a low budget price, but wants to play games at a high DPI setting but couldn't care less about extra features such a weight modifications, a pinkie rest and hand adjuster, then this will provide the best for all your needs. If you want to play games on a mouse which is a comfortable rodent for long gaming sessions and looks great this is the one for you. My overall award is a 9/10 just because you can’t precisely change the DPI on it's software provided and the grip on the side of the mouse attracts dust and dirt quite quickly so you have to keep on cleaning it or it will clogs up.
