Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 Review

Thanks Tom!

Will have to chose between this and the Gryphon. Might simply come down to price though, but I'm willing to spend more on this one if the audio is much better.

TBH mate this thing is epic. £160?

True, though the z77 version of this board used to be around €120,- over here (100 quid?) so I'm waiting to see what the actual price will be.

I also planned on a black & white theme. Not sure if the whole black & white and a bit of green is going to work.

I don't have the funds yet anyway. Do you have any idea when your Gryphon review might be out (if you're doing one at all)?

No plans to atm. TBH a lot has changed at Asus and they make it far to hard to get stuff from them which is why they have fuck all reviews live for NDA.

Ive got a Maximus 6 here but they seem to think delivering it the day before NDA is acceptable. Its not. I certainly wont be working my arse off for them again till they start showing me some love.

How dare Asus be bad to Tommy?! D:
*throws money towards Gigabyte*

Do you reckon this board would work well in a 350D of which I paint the PCI brackets (including the ones on the GPU) white, use black frame and white blade fans and use the white Corsair sleeved cables?

Could always make the H100i LED green or white for more balance and I'm probably getting an Nvidia card anyway

TBH changing the slot colour depends on your own abilities.

You could not only make it looks crap but also kill the board (stop it working)

Design wise you need to have a solid plan before buying anything.

First their godawful gold design, and now they are bad to Thomas?!
Let's go stomp their private parts! And all get a Z87 OC! (If only the made a mATX OC Board)

Didn't mean painting the slots of the board, I meant the slots of the case

Hence the black & white and a hint of green :p

I have the same issue tom, they pipe up and say we want to sponsor your build with a z87 RoG Gene, all the other companies get there parts here, yet now asus have practically vanished off the face of the earth

Hey great review Tom. Are you planning a full review of the G1. 5 board? I am really curious about the layout of the PCIe lanes and if you can run 2 cards at x16 or not and if it would be a board you would suggest for my new build. My budget is rather large:) I am going to put everything in a STH10 case since their shop is near me and I love that case. Also going to run 2x EVGA 780 ACX cards. I will be doing a proper water cooling loop for the CPU as well. Not going to run a H100i. I am going to stick a 560mm rad in the case for it in hopes to keep temps under control.

The design of that UEFI aesthetically is unpleasant. It doesn't really matter though we barely spend any time in there but still why do they waste their time on something that is so obviously horrible?

Now I must admit the Gigabyte UEFI is high up on the list of good ones but it's not as good as say Asus's .. beats the one on my MSI X79 board though my god that thing is a catastrophe.

Just bought one of these for my new build. Shame I'll have to wait to order everything else though, at least it's a start for my Corsair Obsidian 550D! :)

I'd be curious if there's any noticeable difference between the various types of Op-Amps they're offering.

I'm pleased to see one from the company I work for in the list.

EDIT: BTW you pronounce the "P" in the "Op". :p
