Gigabyte 2080ti very hot...

I have a Gigabyte Aorus 2080ti that is loud and hot when gaming as in it is sat at 80+ degrees (generally 83-84) when gaming at 1440p or above and the fans go absolutely mental (over 2600rpm) and I think it may be thermal throttling a bit as I have seen the card at over 1900mhz but when pushing the card hard it drops down to mid to low 1800s.

Now before I bought this card I borrow the Xtreme version of this card to test this and his was also very hot and loud so have just thought itr was normal but have seen reviews the strix card and it's pretty quiet and quite a bit cooler so I looked at other reviews of thes card an people have said the card sits in the 70's degrees wise and fans at about 2000rpm?

Any ideas

Thermal paste may have died out. They use similar tooth paste like Intel. I dropped 8 degrees on my GPU when I applied Kryonaut.

Lower clock speeds under sustained loads are not uncommon. Those fans do sound like they are louder than they should be. I'd contact Gigabyte support to see of this is uncommon for that GPU.

If you can replace it under warranty, do that. No point taking it apart if it isn't that old.

You think that could be the issue even though my card is only 4 months old and has been like it from the start?

You bought it 4 months ago but it may be from the first batch produced and it has been sitting on shelves since then.

If the warranty supports you putting water block on i don't see why changing thermal paste would be a problem.
