HI Guys

My friends GFX 295 is idling at 70 - 72 degrees, and I have just played 2 minutes of COD MW2 and it went over 90 degree, was only playing for about 2 minutes, is this card overheating????? or is this normal.

The system in a I7 920, not overclocked at the moment, in a TJ-07 Case, with a H50 Corsair CPU Cooler

Thanks Guys

Welcome to the world of buying a case with NAFF all airflow. The card is still hot aswell though. Are the fans on auto or manual?

Hmm something wrong there Haley my 280OCX folding only gets up to 77degrees full load

just check temps using gpu-z see which sensors it's picking up.

I'm guessing the fan must be running full tilt, you must be able to hear it!

The temperatures aren't terrible, they're ok upto about 110 degrees. I wouldnt like it to be that hot though and would certainly look at getting some better cooling in there.

when i built the system I put the fan for the RAD for H50 in roof of case blowing into case, and the 2 fans at rear exhausting, should i change this setup

here GPU-Z

Plus the CPU temps on HDmonitor, aren't overclocked at the mo,

top fans should not be intakes... heat rises, there for the worst possible thing to do is make them intake air... that's the first mistake

OK I have decided to turn the fans around in her case, make the top fans exhaust (one will have the H50 Rad attached Exhausting from the case) and the rear fans Intake - will that help

Also I have 2 Noctua NF-P12 fans hanging around, am thinking about changing to Corsair fan on the H50 to have push/pull Noctua, what do you guys think?????

Answer to TTL I think they are on auto, as when I was playing COD MW2 the fan was really noisy so i'm guessing that auto, any other advice woud be gratefully received thanks, need to get these temps down

Yeah I'd install those P12's. Would help keeping CPU temps low.

And yeah it would make sense if making the top fans exhaust and the rear fans take in air would help GPU temps.

The H5O works best with the rad fan being used as an intake as its bringing cooler air in to cool it rather than warm air thats been heated up in the case. Personally I'd stick the rad fan at the back of the case making that an intake and have your roof fans as exhausts cause, as otis1337 says, heat rises.

Just realised that this is what my fans are doing. Got to take them out and move them round now! My GPU on my 260 is fine though, has a big overclock and is still only running at 35 degrees idle 45 load.

can't move the H50 to the rear of the case, as the case has 2x80mm fans, and no space for a 120m hence the reason its in the roof, gonna turn the fans round this morning and see what happens, stay tuned .........

ok i have changed the fans around, and the GFX card is hotter 75 degree on Idle (only been running about 15 minutes)

I think she needs a case change, any ideas on cases with good airflow?????? need to be full tower

Thanks

I'd go with Antec 1200 if its big enough for you, from the reviews I've seen it has awesome airflow. And anodised black interior. Mmm...

Don't buy a new case just yet. Take the stock cooler off and clean it all out in there, fan, heat sink, gpu and get any dust off any parts too. Then buy some decent thermal paste and apply well. Put the heat sink back on nice and tight (not too tight) and see what that does. I did it not that long ago and knocked 5 degrees C off my temps.

I'm guessing its a little better, as my pc has been on constantly for 8 hours or so, since I changed the TIM and these are the temps its Idling at:- (with side panel still off)

Fan running at 60%

Fan running at 50% (for about 5 minutes)

Let me know what you guys think
