Getting into Watercooling - But going to Uni Soon

Hi guys

I've been looking into watercooling (Only my CPU really as the 7870 Tahiti doesn't appear to have a proper cover, only Generic GPU block, and as a n00b i didn't really want to get into fiddling with the other parts of the GPU)

So, my question is. If i were to give this a go and change out the H100i i have

Is is possible to leave a loop, not really doing anything for long periods of time?
From my research i've found it seems okay if you use distilled water, keep it out of sunlight to be cautious and use the chemicals (if any...) then you don't have to worry too much about bacteria (although the distilled water should keep this away) or anything else.

Or the other alternative i guess would be to use it over the summer, if i can find a decent kit or parts for something not out of my price range, and then (within the loop) empty it all out and not use the PC for the time i'm away, and then refil when needed.

Before any of you suggest, i take it to Uni - i didn't really think it worth it particularly for my first year. As i'll probably be spending the majority of my time elsewhere

Thanks guys (i realise this is a long post for a seemingly simple question, figured i'd just add some background to it)

Best off with a H100i/H220 or a XSPC RS240 kit if budget is an issue. If money isn't an issue then go for a XSPC EX240 D5 kit.

Also if you feel the roof will be to cramped with a rad and fan then in the front you could get a RX240 D5 kit from XSPC or do custom loop.

oh okay, so i should stick with the h100i, for ease ;p i might loop into them though :) would it be easy enough to put in a tap to easily drain it ? i'm just worried if i spend the time and money on a loop and come home then it'll be buggered as i know full well my brother won't look after it...lazy sod ;)

and yeah i did think that. I was hoping to have Push Pull on the H100's rad. but its really tight in the R4. So i mean i could put it at the front, which i might do. But corsair's a bit stindgey with the screws so i need to grab some of them

imho h100i is the way to go for mobility. Besides you stated you won't use the desktop much so what's the point in taking care of it and making sure everythings ok all the time? H100i/H220 gets my vote.
