Getting a BSOD

Turning to turn off the Intel Speedstep in the bios, when I press f10 and go to save the PC reboots but nothing happens, so I have to turn it off then back on to find out it didn't work so Mullet told me that I should try and flash my bios.. Did that and it works.. But now i've just had a BSOD :(

fltmgr.sys the last one said.

What a pain in the arse. :mad:
 
Mmm, the file you said there is the Microsoft Filesystem Filter Manager.

Which suggests something is wrong with your fileing system.. (NTFS/FAT)

Time for XP now Brooksie? ;)
 
If you buy me a copy of XP i'll jump straight to it lol

But I have Vista OEM.. So I can only activate it once lol.

You can activate it more I am sure. ;)

Don't you just have to ring them up?

What about the XP disc your dad had? But if it is something to do with your filesystem it would mean a format anywhoo.

Great... :mad: It's fine atm.. No BSOD's so far.. See how tomorrow goes..

I did have XP pro.. But it's gone somewhere.. Wasn't legit anyway =)
 
Well the spd menu tab of cpuz will tell u about the voltages it "likes" under different frequencies.

But if u don`t have a mobo based utility on desktop that`ll tell u (not too familiar with ASUS), the bios will surely tell u in the voltage section.
 
Last time I checked everything was set to 'auto'

I'll go have another wander.. Hopefully the BSOD dragon will not show. I do not have the info to slay the beast! lol.

EDIT: Rasta i'll have a look on the asus disk I got.. I think theres one that tells you the voltages..
 
Check all your data and power cables too and from the harddisk. ;)

Don't trust software for voltages.

Go to the bios hardware section.
 
Auto can ~sometimes~ be a bad thing for memory voltages.

It can happen that it sticks the voltage @ 1.8v when ur sticks prefer around 2.2v for 400mhz and above.

EDIT: urgh they still use that util ?
 


SPD section of CPU-Z. It's the exact same for slot #1 and #3

EDIT: 1.8v for 400mhz.. they must like 2.2 then or something

EDIT: it's all set to auto

all the wires inside the case and connected aswell

It's all fine now..
