Gelid Icy Vision Rev 2 w/ 30cm Akasa Fan 4 pin to 4 pin Extension Cable

The Gelid Icy Vision Rev 2 GPU cooler comes with a 3 pin connector, but in the shape of a 4 pin connector (only 3 wires connecting though).

If I use it with the 30cm Akasa Fan 4 pin to 4 pin Extension Cable, and connect the PWM head to the GPU fan connector, will I be able to control the fan speed? Right now it only operates at 100% fan speed if connected directly to the GPU.

Just use a fan controller? Sythe server master I cannot recommend enough, I use it on my cards custom cooler.

I want to connect the PWM to the GPU fan header, so I can then use MSI Afterburner to control the fan speeds.

Assuming that this cable would work?
