I recently replaced my 1x Kingston HyperX PC4000 512MB Chip with,

2x GeIL Golden Dragon (512MB Each) PC3200's.

Well, I wanted to see how far I could get this GeIL, so I upped my timings from SPD (2-3-3-6) to 2.5-4-4-10, booted up, launched Giga-Byte EasyTune 5, upped my CPU voltage from 1.525v to 1.55v, upped memory from 2.7v to 2.8v, and started up ClockGen.

Wow, DAM. PC4000 on 3200 Ram. Makes me wonder if its TCCC or TCCD chips, I know there Samsung but I dont know what kind.

I did manage to get to 255, but I didn't take a screeny. At 260 it BSOD'ed, and If i wen't any higher than 260 it would have probabally restarted. Wow, Nice Ram! :worship:

yea i have the same ram packaged differently (blue heatspreaders) had it to near 270 @ 1 stage (wit 2.9v) but now cause of my new bios i can go over 236 - boo ;

yea geil value is the dogs bollocks for ocing on the cheap shame the only place in the uk to get it is www.overclockers.co.uk (as more competition = better pricing)

Nicks they are neither samsung TCCC or TCCD chips ........ these chips are manufactured by geil themselves ...... ( see how tiny they are ) . They arent ordinary DDR ram ICs.

I've heard some great things about the Geil lineup and it looks live you've gotten it to work out nicely for you :)

What did your HyperX top out at?

:whispers in fragtek's ears: Nicks bought that ram from me :D

it served me well while i had it then i got ballistix which gave me tighter timings.

I can tell u onething .... that ram will easily shoot down the kingston hyperx which nicks had. Sigh im such an upgrade whore. My mom asks me " where did all the money u earned go" and im like " nowhere, its sitting right in front of me and near my legs :D " :yumyum:

rofl... computers are miniature safes :)

bah... i've dragged my generic ass spectek pc-3200 ram to 244mhz (DDR 488) w/ timings of 2.5 - 3 - 3 - 8

the golden dragon ram may look nice, but its really nothing special in terms of performance - for that price, you could've picked up some nice OCZ gold or even plat rev.2

just my .02, but each to his own

lol. And there are MANY advantages to Golden Dragon, so listen up.

There is NONE AT ALL soldering on these memories. Memory is actuallly INTEGRATED into teh PCB. This means lower noise, better performance, and better clock speeds. These are also GeIL branded chips, GeIL makes them and HAND Picks them.

There are more pro's too, just I forget some of them. Bourne'll tell ye. I bought the ram from him :).

True that Nicks. Basically since the memory ICs are integrated on the wafer , lesser noise means higher bandwidth. Geil does hand pick these modules. The geil Value series uses either Hynix or Infenion or Mosel chips ( DRAM chips ) while these geil modules are smaller ..... like BGA Ram chips. They do NOT get hot . I have pump 2.95V to them before and they were luke warm to touch while running Memtest #5 . When compared to equivalent modules from Corsair and Kingston , Geil comes out with a higher bandwidth due to better circuit construction. Geil just came up with these chips ahead of time , and people just discarded these modules as " All show " . They were around when BH5 chips were at their peak and everyone craved for one.

ohh btw ...... tell me where you can buy the ocz platinum edition for 125 dollas :D ( thats what i sold them to nicks for ) .
