Have they explained why the game is so hard to run when many who've played it feel it looks only slightly better than its predecessor? I've only seen a couple of clips, but it doesn't look like it should be as hard to run as it is. I understand there may be details in the game's settings that are easy to miss amid combat but hard to process for the GPU, but I don't necessarily think that more tiny stuff means a better experience when smoother gameplay is often of greater importance. I'm not a developer so I don't know a lot of what goes in. And I've always pushed back against the tide of gamers who just shout "optimise your game bro" as if it were just a button to push. I've always loved developers that push the boundaries even in small ways. But when a game is THIS hard to run and looks like THIS, it's harder for me to understand where they're coming from.

I think they didn't bother with any optimization whatsoever. I think they just wanted to release the game ASAP so they decided to rely on upscaling entirely. Don't give them your money until they fix this mess.

This is something Epics Tim Sweeny talked about recently, He said too many studios leave optimization until the very last step when it should be from the get go.
