Hi all,

I'm building new gaming PC. I was waiting for LGA 2011/Ivy Bridge but my current PC died
sad5.gif
. My budget is around 3500 ~ 4200 USD but i would like to keep it under 4000USD. I already have a monitor Samsung 2493HM. I use my PC for gaming only. I want to buy parts from amazon.com because i live in the middle east and i use a mail forward service to ship it to where i live. Case or power supply i won't be buying these online since shipping rates are very expensive for heavy items 20+ pounds. Unfortunately our local stores only sell Thermaltake case and PSU no Lian Li or Silverstone here
sad.gif
. I hope atleast i can get 2 GTX 580s i don't care much for SSDs the money for SSD i will add it to another GPU 3 GTX 580 if i can. I will be air cooling this thing. I'm newbie builder so i don't think i can manage installing water cooling stuff + NH-D14 is great CPU cooler
smile.gif

I also want sound card Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD or better

2 quick questions...

Will you ever be using more than one monitors with this rig?

Are you willing to wait for some of the Z68 boards to become available through amazon or do you want to be ordering stuff asap?

no i dont like multi monitors setups. 1 monitor 1920 by 1200. Sure i can wait if z68 is worth it

i want to max out dx11 games with aa and the new stuff

With that out the way then I'm going to say

Motherboard: Asus P8P67 PRO http://www.amazon.com/P8P67-PRO-REV-3-0-Motherboard/dp/B004QF0VD6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305828949&sr=8-1

CPU: Intel 2500K http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Processor-i5-2500K-LGA1155-BOX80623I52500K/dp/B004EBUXHQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305829024&sr=1-1

CPU Cooler: Noctua D14 http://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Heatpipe-Bearing-Cooler-NH-D14/dp/B002VKVZ1A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1305829053&sr=1-1

RAM: Kingston HyperX 4 GB Kit http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Modules-Desktop-KHX1600C8D3K2-4GX/dp/B002N19KAK/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305829087&sr=1-3

Graphics: 2x MSI GTX 580 Lightning (Currently not in stock but you might want to wait)

Hard drive: Samsung F3 http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Spinpoint-3-5-Inch-Internal-HD103SJ/dp/B002MQC0P8/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1305829290&sr=1-2

Obviously I haven't selected a PSU and case cus you said you would get them from your local shop.

Reasons for choosing them:

Asus P8P67 PRO: Great reputation and you don't need the cards at dual x16 if your only using one monitor.

Intel 2500K: Just as fast as the 2600K and you don't need the extra threads that the 2600K offers for a gaming rig

Noctua D14: That was your choice but I ain't going to argue
smile.gif

Kingston HyperX 4 GB Kit: Kingston have a great rep for memory and these will fit under the D14

2x MSI GTX 580 Lightning: Best 580's out on the market imho.

Samsung F3: I like the samsung drives

I didn't recommend a Z68 board as I haven't read any reviews on them yet but if you needed duel x16 then I might have done. Why your waiting for the Lightnings to come into stock though (if you didn't want to go for something else) then you might want to keep track of whats coming out and the reviews they get and change the P67 board I recommended to a Z68.

I think i will wait for Gigabyte Z68 UD7 hope OC3D review it soon. I think UD7 P67 better then P8P67Pro since i might Tri SLi if i can afford it!

I never found MSI lightning @ amazon i have been checking for a month since i was planning to upgrading my 285 to 580s before my PC died. What about EVGA GTX 580 SC it's 499USD.

and what about a sound card i think Creative SB XFI Titanium HD is great for gaming.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't 3 way sli on a single 24" monitor @ 1920 * 1080 at little overkill?

ok so 2 580s is enough at 1920 by 1200 for maxing out new dx11 games. I thought i needed 3 but if 2 can do it thats even better
biggrin.gif

I did see the Z68 UD7 on Amazon but didn't list it cus they had the wrong picture and it made me a little suspicious

Sheroo's right about it being a little overkill and I'm not sure SLI scales that well but it's your money and if that's what you want then it's all good

I will say though that you won't get 3 GTX 580 and a sound card on that mobo without watercooling though as the heatsink on the northbridge stops you from using the x1 PCI-E slot.

On the soundcard side of things I can't help you as I'm not that knowledgeable there but I have heard that creative labs suck when it comes to drives so a lot of people have moved to the ASUS soundcards because of it so yo might want to look at some of those. I know TTL and some of the others have the Xonar D2X so you might want to take a look at that.

With the graphics card, I hear EVGA are great and have really good warranty's in the states but not living there I don't know how true that is but if your happy with a couple of GTX 580 SC then go for it. I will say though that your going to need a case with good cooling for GPU's though as they have stock coolers and if you do go for a UD7 they'll be right next to each other.

Hope this is of some help
smile.gif

Okay i won't get UD7 since im not going Tri Sli so P8P67Pro or P8Z68Pro.

I don't care about brand names so if there non reference cooler GTX 580 and available i will take it
smile.gif

You should care about brand names because some brands are a piece of crap

I was just reading this review http://www.hardwarec...-review-20.html and apparently they had some issues with overclocking using OC tuner, a 2500K and the P8Z68-V PRO.

If you don't mind not having the latest Z68 mobo then I'd say the go for the P8P67 PRO as it's been tried and tested and proved to kick ass
wink.gif

Oh, if you don't know the diffrence between the P67 and Z68 when watch this http://www.youtube.c...h?v=wIUVxF3R2-Y

As far as GPU's on Amazon go then I'd get one of these. I mean two of these
tongue.gif

EVGA GeForce GTX 580 DoubleShot Superclocked - http://www.amazon.co...5836519&sr=8-27

MSI Geforce GTX 580 Twin Frozr ii OC - http://www.amazon.co...05836491&sr=8-4

Hope this is helping

With the price of SSDs i think Samsung F3 is more then enough might get 2 Samsung HDD.

2600K + Z68 pro seem great! and the price increase is reasonable imo.

How much power do i need ? and is thermaltake level 10 GT or Armor+ case good for my system?

You will have a machine that act's and feels much quicker with a 2500K, P8P67 Pro and a OCZ Vertex 3 as a boot drive than a 2600K, P8Z68-V PRO and a two samsung F3's in raid. This I promise you and I do not say that lightly. But it's your money and your rig and your the only one that needs to be happy with it
smile.gif

Out of those cases both will house this rig just fine so it's up to you what you want to go for and I'd personally go with which one you think looks the best
smile.gif

As for the PSU, and staying with Thermaltake then I'd say anything on this page would do but you really want to do with one of the Gold efficacy ones if you can. http://www.thermalta...ory.aspx?C=1245 Not picked one out as I don't know what's at your shop
