gaming monitor

Ive got the 24 inch Dell TFT, the 20 inch Dell TFT & a mitsubishi 19 inch CRT.

for gaming I would say the 20 inch Dell TFT or the mitsubishi crt, the 24 is just too damm big for FPS gaming in all honesty, you really want to be sitting a few feet away from it & that aint much use in FPS games. If you have an xbox try playing a game on it sitting 2 foot away from the tv, thats what the dell 24 feels like, just too in your face.

Yep I agree with you there matey, it is too big and I'm not a fan of widescreen to be honest I prefer 1600x1200.

I have to agree with that.

But it's not something that I have experienced though as my desk is 3ft deep and the monitor sits at the back - it took a few days to get used to but now it's 2nd nature to play - the WOW factor when you switch it on for the first time is something not to be missed :D

Some people with wireless keyboards do take a step back to play with the keyboard on their lap to enhance their viewing pleasure.

I would not change now, thats for sure, but I think i might have considered a DVI 16ms LCD TV as well (with the value of looking back).

Mav

EDIT: If the screen was concave (curved inwards) it would have produced an awesome immersive gaming experience - food for thought any TFT guys reading this - just another idea from the 'Mav' fully interactive gaming factory :D

They have made sort of spheres you stand inside with images projected onto them for full immersion. Who knows... that could be the future of gaming.

Not at 1920x1200 res it isn't, Your tv will be standard pal res (assuming you weren't referring to the XBOX360 and HD telly).

Also widescreen is an advantage in gaming it just takes a bit of time setting it up (see widescreen gaming forums for help). Also IMO its much nicer looking at a widescreen display thats more in keeping with your natural vision that 4:3.

Justin I thought you were getting a IBM T221 ? :p

Thats true there are a few features in here covering that subject - but I think a bit OTT and curved desktop units would be more appealing to a wider audience.

True - I was just saying it's been thought before - it's not a patented Mav product. :p

well my desk is about 3 feet deep, so it shouldnt be a problem to put the display further back. Im ordering something tommorow, either 24 inch dell or something else

forgot to say my 20 inch Dell TFT is the widescreen one (1600 X 1050), I do like it for gaming.

the 24 is too big to be up close for gaming, thats what I was trying to get at, not the res, you almost have to turn your head to see side to side, same as you would do with the tv analogy.

Of course it is, the domes are MASSIVE, the Mav product is quite simply an immersive desktop solution - imagine 3 TFT's on you desk, one in the middle one to the left and one to the right - thats been done and can be done. now imagine that same style of vision but using one LCD monitor that's the Mav product.

someone needs to do some awesome modding work, remove two 24 inch dell lcd panels build a new 48 inch bezel and put them side by side, there goes the annoying space in between.
