Hey all this will be my first gamer pc build
I’d love to hear your advice so please tell me if I’m going wrong anywhere or if I need to change something’s as all I’ve been doing it watching YouTube and researching on the internet. I’m on a lowish budget and am trying to compromise hoping to upgrade later on..

My lists of parts so far are

The Case - COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced PC Tower Case

Motherboard -Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE (looks cool)

Power supply - Corsair CMPSU - 850AXUK professional Series Gold 850w

Processor - Intel 3rd Generation Core i7-3770K CPU

Graphics Card - EVGA GF GTX 660Ti 2gb GDDR5

I am still looking what else i need please do chip in! :)

£1500 isn't a small budget lol. I thing I would change straight off the bat is the PSU. 650W should be more than sufficient for the build specified in the OP.

My budget would be just to fill the case with goodies..

ok i will will take that onboard thanks :) the psu i looked at the highest, thinking i might need it later down the years saving me an upgrade down the line
would you stay with the Corsair brand?

You can build a kick ass sli/xf build for £1500 dude. This is not a challenge! But you need more GPU power and less on the CPU.

Corsair are great for PSUs. A single GPU setup will be more than happy on 600w. If you want a second card down the line then go 700w. If you want to add water cooling pumps and lots of other stuff then add another 100w. 850w is more than enough for pretty much anyone.

Get the 3570K not the 3770K. Games don't make use of the hyper threads (which is what the difference is).

660ti is nice but pretty average for your budget. I'd get a 7970 or 670 depending on what deals you find (get one that comes factory overclocked with a 3rd party cooler).

You also only need 8gb of RAM. Any sort will do, 1600MHz is perfect and nice and cheap. Get 1866 if there is a deal on. You won't see any benefit to getting faster RAM.

You also need to get an SSD for your budget. Crucial M4s, Samsung 830s, Intel 520s are the pick of the bunch. You'll probably want a ~240gb size if you have a lot of games installed at the same time. You'll want to look up tips on saving space on your SSD too (i.e. turn off hibernate and fix page filing to a remotely sensible 4gb).

Also maybe a storage drive for films/music/docs. I'd recommend a Western Digital Green.

You've also chosen a monstrously expensive motherboard. If you like the looks then great but you can get the same performance from something half the price.

Just threw this together in a couple of mins based on deals available and your likes:

Ok, so, what I have here is two options.

The first of which I have named on my computer as the 'F*ck yeah' gaming rig. It's a little overpriced, but you're getting great quality components + it'll look bloody awesome.

The latter of my choices is named the, ahem, 'conservative' gaming rig. It knocks down some of the components, but it's still based on quality and, for gaming on a single 1080p screen, really wouldn't lose you many frames. It still looks awesome, too.

Now, the RAM choice; you only need 8GB for gaming, but the price difference between 1600MHz RAM and the faster stuff is so small now, I figure why the hell not.

There's still money to be saved if you do wish to. The H100 can be swapped with a NH-D14 and two of the Corsair fans can be removed with it.
Also, the SSD - I find that I need 240GB+ of space, but you may find that you don't and can thus take it down to 128GB etc.

The PSU on the first option is 750W because I believe that if you were to add another GTX680 Lightning to the mix, things, when overclocked, may begin to get a little dicey. I could be wrong, but that's just me.
The PSU on the second option should be the AX650, but Aria (that's the website I used to compile this shopping list, incidentally) doesn't have them in stock.

Just my take on things, at least :)

Thanks for all those suggestions I appreciate it a lot!
My mind is blown and smoking right now :)
I’ll revise my items list massively and post my next list

Looks very decent to me and virtually all of us would have built something very similar as a default build!

Only criticisms:

1. I'd suggest getting a pair of fans to replace those on the stock H100. Scythe Gentle typhoon 1850s, Noctua NF-F12s or Corsair SP120 Quiet Editions are all excellent choices.

2. You have no HDD in the list (might be unnecessary for various reasons).

3. 750w PSU is a bit on the high side depending on what you intend on doing in the future/price compared to other sizes.

All pretty minor concerns.

Knock that PSU down to a 650W, Corsair AX650 or Be Quiet P10 650W is perfect.

The HAF X case is old, really old, so i'd say forget it. Fractal Arc Midi, maybe a CM Storm Stryker or Trooper? Something like that i'd say.

I'd recommend getting 2x Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition fans for the H100 and put them on 12V, the stock fans are super loud. I have 2 SP120 Q.E's on 12V and they are extremely quiet and cheap too, fully recommend them over any other fan for the H100.

Also, the 680 is pointless. The 670 is about 3-5% slower but £100 cheaper, and the 7970 is a bit more expensive than the 670 but faster than the 680 and cheaper too. So imo it's either the 670 or 7970 to choose from realistically.

2133MHz ram is pointless too, you'll see no improvement in performance over 1600MHz or 1866Mhz, and ram at those sorts of speeds are much cheaper too. Stick to 1.5V or lower RAM at 1600MHz/1866MHz and reasonable tight timings (CAS9 or lower) and you'll be golden

i like the idea of the CM Storm Stryker
is there plenty of room for me to mount the h100 water cooling
my list is changing all time now so much to choose from :)
