Game is charging for PlayStation VR demo sessions

I think this is ridiculous to be honest, what training is needed? Follow the on screen instructions? Even if the staff weren't demoing the headset they will still be getting paid so not sure why they need to charge.

If trying out new tech is going to be a premium service, the future is looking bad. I might exaggerate and say next thing there will be an entry fee to mobile shops or tech stores that have phones and other tech on display to try.

The training is they read an email and it tells them to sell as many as they can for their minimum wage.

It's complete sack that they are doing this IMO and will only thwart the adoption of VR even more.

Grasping at straws before they all go out of business, surprises me that they haven't gone out of business yet with consoles requiring downloads as well now.

I can see both sides to the argument - I guess they need something to stop the 12 year olds that like to just play games and never buy anything hogging the demo units, but at the same time 12 year olds have parents that can be pretty cashed up and whatever they want they buy for them. They're probably doing themselves out of a sale.

It's a bit like charging a fitting room fee - a couple of stores have tried it and failed but what are they to do? A friend had a shoe shop and the number of people coming in to try them on and then end up buying them online (cheaper) was ridiculous. Some were even walking around the store looking up shoes on their iPads. I feel sorry for small business owners like the local computer store or bike shop where you can have a chat.

Then again if you're going to spend money in store they should give you a free demo. The Vive is $1,300.00 here so i'm going to make sure it doesn't give me a headache or motion sickness before I lay out that kind of cash.
