Galax' single-slot GTX 1070 Katana is now available in the US

Yup, I love it... Would be nice if someone like ASUS would do one like this on a 1080 for example, or the next gen cards from Nvidia, such as the 1180 or so :)

Makes you wonder why DVI has been hanging around so long as an option. There must be a reason, but what the heck is it!?!?

Only issue is that these days 90% of motherboards are designed around dual/tri slot cards. That means there are massive gaps between the cards. I would also bet that it runs very hot, and can make quite a racket.

What we need to see more of is dual slot cards with only one slot full of IOs. That way when you water cool them (like my Fury X) you can run them single slot if mining is your thing. Other than that? I really don't see the point in this card. It's not like you could load a crap load of them up as they would just overheat so it's all a bit pointless really.

I had a single slot BFG 8800GT, and it was ridiculously loud. It's the only GPU I ever put an aftermarket cooler on.

I'll pass.

I'm hoping that as tech gets more efficient we can eventually have top end GPU's in a single slot form factor without worrying about temps.

^ This is exactly my thoughts as well, hence my previous post regarding Nvidia's next gen cards, ie 1180. Or later down the road...

It'll be quite a while. Efficiency goes up in the sense of performance/watt. So if you still have a ton of watts at the same performance, just means you still have a lot of heat. If performance stayed the same but efficiency went up, then we could have done it probably with Maxwell:p
Although I guess technically the 480 is basically becoming more like a Fury X as time goes on(games at least, it's getting closer and closer). Same performance but way more efficiency.
