Galax launches their HOF Extreme 50 PCIe 5.0 SSD

They should have used this design for their GPU instead of the hideous artwork they butcher the cards with today.

true they are good cards but over the years they become marmite and while i love marmite and veggimite their cards are fugly.

To me they went downhill after the rebranding from KFA2

They didn't rebrand to KFA2 dude. They were always known as Galaxy. Like, 20 years ago. They then bought the defunct BFG, and sold some cards under the KFA2 moniker (Kick f**kin ass).

They have always kept their very high end gear Galax(y) lol. The KFA2 cards are usually the custom cheaper models, with cheaper caps and VRM.

You just made my point.

Galaxy used the brand name KFA2 in EU (as you said, from an amalgamation of BFG). They operated under two names. Then they rebranded to operate under one name. "Galax". From here on, their designs were mediocre at best and get worse with each generation.

Why do companies in this industry have to make things so complicated and confusing?...

Why do companies in this industry have to make things so complicated and confusing?...

Sometimes they dont have a choice. Its licensing and naming rights. e.g. the Game rocksmith could have been released almost a year sooner, but it was blocked because an actual band called Rocksmith had the rights to the name, and demanded a % of game sales. They blocked the release of the game just because they could...

Took months to reach an agreement.

They do have a choice, they should simply do the research before using said name, to see if some else already uses said name. Quite simple actually.

You may say that cost money, sure... But doesn't the legal battle prior to an potential agreement cost even more at that point, not to mention the negative publicity associated with that company name as well?

You reach a point where everything has been taken and must simply resort to complex nomenclature.

Thats a little Naive to think that its so simple.

You would need to check every single country globally. Don't think so much like evil corporations, but also think good companies wanting to better the world.

Scenario:

You are a small local team and design a product that becomes a national hit. You have no intention of global domination. You are simply happy that its blossoming in the US under the name "Dawelio". Suddenly any number of factors come about, new buyers come in, hostile take over, new investors etc all of which want your dream product to be taken abroad. It goes great in Australasia, great in Asia but EU already as a company with the same name. And its nothing more than a friendly coffee shop in London. So just for London alone, you have to change your brand name for the entire UK.

They have a right to stop you. You also have a right as disgusting as it sounds, to make "THEM" change their name.

HEre is one example of how it can get messy, and also how "the little guy" can come out on top

It's to create more names. Let me explain why they do that. People can be very brand loyal. As such, hardly any companies who sell things have only just one brand name.

It's kinda like the guys who will only buy Asus GPUs. It doesn't matter how good another one may be, they will always buy Asus. Galaxy were a low rent GPU company so they used KFA2 to rebrand and create a following.

In BMX it is the same. For example there is a company called Kink Bikes who have been around since the mid 90s. They have a side brand called Mission, and another called Cinema. Mission is their cheaper low rent stuff, Kink is the mid range now and Cinema is the high end gear.

Sorry, but I disagree.

It's not that complicated. We make new words up for new things, however they are a culmination of currently used words to describe this new thing.

Monitors aren't new. A monitor with a new feature, say MiniLED, is still a monitor. The only new way to distinguish this monitor is MiniLED. Could you short hand this? Sure to maybe say MLD(MiniLeD). But who the hell is going to know by looking at it what MLD is? It's precisely the problem you are complaining about how monitor titles look randomized group of letters.

To keep it simple companies put their brand name, type of product, trim level(think ROG, Strix) and then an identifying feature that stands out.

There's only so many ways to call something... Something
