They sure do perform well 
I thought these Gainward versions would be some of the more expensive non ref 780Tis. Others I have seen knocking about are £630-£650+ these coming in at £600 isn't bad.
Saying that though, It's hard to talk about the price of them with a strait face, the price of the 780Ti is general is bad. But at least these Gainward ones are cheaper than the others that are about.

The GTX 780 Ti cards may be expensive but you can't argue with those results, truly top class.
That being said I can't help but smile or laugh when I look at the price, even the price of one is out of my price range if I were to build a whole rig.
I do like the design of these gainward cards, the fans behind the fins and the ability to remove the fans are a truly fantastic feature for cleaning the cards and they don't look bad either.

There a problem with that? Batman games arent the most graphically demanding games but many people do like them and this shows what people can expect on such cards. More different games with different engines in a review is a plus for everyone.

I think they should add more games to benchmark. Such as Total War Rome 2. Has a built in benchmark and would make things very easy and only runs for about 2mins; plus this game destroys many high end gpus when fully cranked up in detail... kind of like "But can it run Crysis?" for the strategy genre.
Now it still consumes time and work so i won't get my hopes up.
I'm waiting for the next generation of GPU's to come out. Can't wait for 2014/15. I love my 770 SC, no problems and runs well. Gonna go way bigger then what I currently have in the coming years. Def SLI setup, watercooled and a HUGE SSD drive. Also curious to see what kind of RAM we will all be using at that point in time.

Are they custom PCB? I seem to recall the Phantom cards in the past have been.
The price is the main downside of these cards though, as is often the case with Nvidia cards. I mean for the price of one of these you could just about get 2 AMD R9 290s. While you then have the noise and heat issues associated with that I have to think for the price you'd have better performance?
As much as I like the Nvidia cards I also have to wonder how much of a difference Mantle will make and how widely used it will be.

I had a 780 in my basket at one retailer and a 290 in my basket at another ready to click buy on one and in the end it came down to me wanting to see how Mantle turns out. Even if Mantle doesn't catch on, not much was lost. And if it does catch on and is widely used, then performance was gained

a 290 is faster than a 780 though in the first place the majority of the time. Also cheaper which is always nice.

Hmm, at face value, for the most part, I agree. Titan cost comes into it as well when comparing, though the Ti's are still expensive (and a second hand titan is still cheaper), but Titans can quite happily do 1000MHz on stock voltage. I could even run my titans as around 1180Mhz on air. When you take into account the stock Titan BIOS is quite restrictive (and I'm sure you had them on stock when doing the review) then the Titans probably won't fare so badly against these.
If you neglect price (let's be honest, price becomes less important when you have people looking at this end of the market), then a 780 up against a Titan, up against a 780 Ti, there's not much in it once you start overclocking and fiddling around. Really, the 780 is only a few percent below a Titan, the Titan and the Ti are even closer, the biggest thing the Ti has going for it is that the memory can clock much higher than the Titans. 8k vs 7k (ish).
The downside is that it's still sittng at 3GB VRAM with for more than 1 screen, or 4K, is most definitely not too ideal. nVidia afaik have also said they aren't pushing out a 'black' or 6GB edition of the 780 Ti either.
At least that was the last I heard from their HQ

Then throw in their performance vs a 290 or 290x and you see that the extra cost becomes more a paper weight than actual benefit.
Love your reviews Tom and love the idea of showing max GPU clock but would love to see GPU clock speed after it has been running benchmark for 30 mins. Guessing that max GPU speed would be at the very start in first few mins or so before all the heat built up in the cards? Food for thought :headscratch:
