Gabe Newell confirms that Valve has games in development

In his AMA yesterday on Reddit, Gabe Newell has confirmed that Valve has games in development, which will be based on their Source 2 engine.

L4D, L4D2 etc.

A new HL or L4D would do me for the year

He's just not ready for conclusion of Half Life saga, but it would be nice to get some kind of episodes in continuation from Half Life 2 Episode 2

A new Team Fortress game would be good cause then a lot of people can get away from FTP scum begging for stuff.....lol

Did not like it when Valve change TF2 from a pay game to a FTP game.

Half-Life 3 is not even Valve's biggest opportunity. Day of Defeat is ripe for a revamping. A WWII MMO FPS is an untapped market. Team Fortress has so many diehard fans that would love to see a new iteration with a squeaky clean new Source engine.

Nah not really, I still remember sitting up late with WYP watching the GDC in March 2015 when Valve released it and said it would be free for Devs to use.

Hmm. I would have thought they would have updated it for better graphics then. Only because a lot of people really really really care about graphics... Helps things sell. I'm not one of those but I know plenty of people like that.

From what I recall Valve said many years ago that there would not be any more episodes on the current engines and HL3 would be the last HL game. At least with Gordon Freeman in it.

There were rumours that a new L4D was coming out long ago but due to the complaints about them launching L4D2 too early and not giving it away free I would imagine they didn't feel much like releasing it.

God only knows what is going on (well, and Gabe too lol). Those are probably the only two people who know. Valve really are that closed down.

Well that would fall to the model makers and texture designers, the engine just runs the content so you can't really blame the engine for "bad" graphics.

Mostly yes but not entirely. I mean look at Skyrim SE, with mods it's much better(graphically), but it's still pretty low compared to today's FPS games which have more advanced tools to allow for better lighting and etc.

Wasn't that dead many years ago? I used to love playing that with a bunch of guys from work. Didn't think it was still a thing, but I'm out of touch on that stuff.
