Hello Guys

I been modding my Apple Mac G5 case and i was wondering how do you exactly get the current G5's Front Panel to work with a standard ATX Mobo

i been doing some research, and reading through different forums and threads and its driving me nutz! everyone has somthing different to say and always contradicts what the last person said lol, the main thing i would like to work is the power button hehe! the Mic and headphone ports are a bonus :D

Im not the best electricion so take it easy im a newbie :p

Thanks for any help ladies and gents

Any questions/picture request please let me know

Edit: Thanks Teknokid

Switch is dead easy. If not then replace it

The IO's you need to look at them and work out whats what or data sheet. Other option like most is to use a IO off Lian Li

Were talking about an Apple G5 here and i said my server runs in one. That is i have an Apple G5 case and a PC inside it which is a server in my home.

I got the front to work no problem at all. It was dead easy.

Switch i used a new anti vandle job.

IO i got a Lian-Li one and modded it. Dead easy.

If you get some decent photos of the wiring or want to send me it i might be nice and sort you out and also braid it for you!

Basically from the connector that is on the front panel board the corect wires need to be soldered to the correct pin lool

:( mhhh now i just need to buy a soldering iron lol

Soldering iron. LOL just get some headers from an old case or off ebay etc etc and re-pin them. Mine were color coded and i just matched the cables up to the data sheet i had. Took an hour to do inc braiding them. Dead easy!

Top tip, pen, paper tape, helps marking the wires up for what there for then!

Strip the std unit down and mark it up whats what!

Then do what you need, in this case i sleaved them, then fitted plugs, test it out and job done!
