Timings aren't as important anymore ever since really the first Intel I series. Higher speeds offset them.

Well not quite

In many cases lower timings and frequencies RAM can give the same throughput as higher freqencies ones, while having an advantage on latency.

Obviously still marginal improvements, but I think it's easier and cheaper to get DDR4 at 2666 CL12 than 3400 CL16
