Hello everyone!
I'm considering to buy an i5 3570k for my next build, which will be placed on the Biostar z77 mainboard. Now this board has a really nice black and orange colour scheme, and as I want to make a window in my CM Storm Trooper, I thought about using a 2x4GB G.skill Ares kit on it.
Now, I don't want all my slots to be filled with orange dimms. I'd prefer to have 2 orange dimms as well as 2 black ones. I know you should always use the same RAM, but painting the Ares heatspreaders black is not going to happen. That's way too much hassle and too much that can go wrong.
So now I was thinking about pairing it up with some Corsair Vengeance low profile dimms. These are about the same height, but with black heatspreaders. Both kits have the same speed, voltage and latencies. The only difference seems to be the brand and the looks.
My question: Will it give any problems if I use the 2 different dimms? I'll be installing the Ares in channel A/1 and the Vengeance in channel B/2 (or the other way around)
I'd like to hear your advice guys! I'm open to suggestions of using other RAM as long as they fit the colour scheme.
