G.Skill 8500 4GB vs OCZ 8500 4GB

Hi guys,

I just took a project today, to build a PC for a friend which will be badly overclocked ( Will also make him some nice watercooling kit! ), However i have doubt on the memory :

OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 1066MHz/PC2-8500 Reaper Memory HPC Edition Dual

VS

4GB G.Skill DDR2 PK PC2-8500 (1066MHz)

I really hate to go with more than 2 sticks which gives me less options!, As you can see, the OCZ memories are even 10 pounds cheaper! and i like them somehow more.

Do you guys have any thoughts or recommendation?

Any reply is highly apperciated!

OCZ without question. They seem real popular at the moment and did well in OC3D reviews.

Yeah i was actually going to go with those no doubt at first but then some reviews had very nice stuff about G.Skill ...

Need to be pc 8500 ?

Well, i am getting him a nice Abit P35 Pro board ( just build one for myself with this board and its great! :yumyum: ) and yeah i prefer to have it 8500 while i might even end up with a nice pair of 6400 2GB sticks and overclock them nicely!

The thing is, Money is not much of a problem for him ( He's getting a Q9550 as soon as it comes out! ) so i want everything to be nice and perfect!, in few months when he learns abit more about overclocking, i dont want him coming up to me saying .. Hey i paid you that much why didnt you get me X ?!

Thanks for the replies guys

My pc6400 kit hits pc8500 no probs... If the 8500 kit is cheap go for it as you can prob squeeze more out of it

i've had some Gskill, a 2 gig kit of 6400, loved it, far better than my old OCZ 2 gig kit, which failed memtest :(

I would go for the G.Skill (the 2x2Gb 8000 PQ plays really well with the IP35 Pro).

Up until yesterday you could have got the PK for £93 on This Week Only at OcUK but it's gone back up today.

Probably be back on special at some point though.

Or you could get the 8000 PQ at £82.

The Reaper is £93 plus carr. at OcUK this week.

Anyways, yeah guys as you all suggested i ended up with the OCZ Ram! Hopefully i wont be disappointed!

Thanks for all the replies! Its highly apperciated
