fx 8350 overclocking

Ok so I am currently running a occt small data set, with my volts at 1.332 and my multiplyer up to x21.5 (4.3ghz). I am 25 mins in an my cpu temp has settled at 60c, I have the notua nf f12's on my corsair h100i at 7v . I am wondering if its worth my putting them on 12v to try an get a lil more out of the chip, as 62c is said to be the "safe" limit for the temps.

Thoughts?

Hi there,

I don't have a H100i but a Dark Rock Pro C2 and I only just get 64c @ 4.7GHz with 1.4V so those temps do seem a little high to me.

AMD CPUs love the cold so I would put the fans up to 12V and see what you can get out of the chip. 4.6GHz is a very realistic target with the cooler you have :)

Yeah well my occt hour small data test will finish in a few mins so I may stick them on 12v, an see what the temps look like then an maybe push on a bit more

Right so my noctuas are on 12v now, an my temps have dropped to 47c. So I may just push on a bit, just wondering how long I should do my main stress teat on occt? An how do I validate it with cpuz?

Thanks

*edit* appoligies I seem to have double posted

Well I always just run mine for an hour or two, some people do more some do less but I think that's enough to check for stability.

You should be able to get a few more MHz now with that temp drop, also double check that the pump speed is at 100% if it is connect with a PWM.

CPU validations are dpne by opening the application up and pressing the validation button on the bottom right of the window.

Well it went well at 4.5ghz for an hour an twenty minutes, then I got a error so gonna be trying somemore tonight. Gotta get my new hardware in there first tho an that will take a hour or so

I run the H100i in Push/Pull using the Quiet profile @ 5Ghz on 1.52v Max temps was about 63 - 65c under IBT.

To be fair, I don't bother with stress testing like I used to, I simply run Intel Burn Test for about 10 mins, and that's it. I will then use the system normally.

I have to go over those volts to get 4.1 ;-;. Currently I'm running at the stock volts (~1.3v for my 8320) @4.066 ghz stable (tested using the CCC burn test thingy for 8 hours, then put my entire system on heaven for 4 hours to test gaming stability).

cheers bud i never found a stable overclock in the end, been thinking about giving it another pop though to be honest

At first try and see what it takes to hit your CPU's boost clock (in your case 4.5). You probably can get there with a little voltage increase from your previous attempt. Anything over and you are really at the mercy of the silicon lottery. Some 8350s will not go above 4.55 without scary temperatures.Fingers crossed your chip goes higher :). Its even worse for people with 8320s. Some 8320s can get up to 5ghz with decent temps while others sweat it out at 4.2ghz (my chip).

yeah thats why i stopped, my cpu temp got to 60c in hwmonitor. an i know these chips throttle at 62c

Wow just tried amd overdrive for trading my temps, an under stress testing it would seem I still have a good 20○c room for overclocking. I may just see how much further this chip will go

I wonder if you might be lucky and have a 5ghz chip ^_^

Haha I doubt I will be that lucky, I will be happy enough to get past the 4.5ghz mark to be honest. Might give it a blast tonight anywho, see what's what with this chip eh
