Hi guys an girls sorry about posting about this again. Im trying my hand at overclocking my cpu, currently doing a small fft test.

Now this is my first overclock (well i tryed a few monthes ago to no avail) its at:
1.44v
4ghz
1333mhz ram timings all correct
My cpu temp from corsair link 2 says 51°c an from msi control center 37°c

I have gotten about 25 miniutes in to the test an had an illegal sumout error on my 4th core, any advice please?

Thanks

I was thinking that was a lot already i have heard of people getting higher clocks an less voltage than i am on

Ok am offically sick of trying to overclock this cpu. Had to bump the voltage up to 1.47, an it started registering in cpuz as a 165w cpu.

Not sure what else i can do

Well I know the reason I bought my 4170, I didn't really understand all the technical jargon that you see when buying a CPU and got confused! I just saw the 4.2GHz and thought, 'Shizz that must be so much faster than anything else!'. I, of course, was wrong :(.
But now I'm a lot more confident when buying new parts :)

I got it in a bundle with a mobo an ram my last rig was amd baised so i decided to stick with them, think i may just bite the bullet an buy the fx8350

Well Tripp, I've read great things about the 8350! It is on par with the 3570k in most games and beast in some, I can't say I've had any personal experience with it but from what I have seen the Piledriver chips have huge performance improvements over the Bulldozer chips! Hope this helps :)

Yeah i have heard the same i was just hoping to stave off buying a new chip, just untill steamroller next year doent look like its going to happen tho

Hmm. I've seen one review (if you could call it that) to back up what you say and every other review disagreeing with you.

So unless there's a big AMD conspiracy with Intel at the helm and we all need to don our tinfoil hats I think it's safe to say that the 3570k is better than the 8350 in absolutely every regard.

Not that I'm saying the 8350 is specifically terrible but its single threaded performance is.

Still I suppose it's cheaper than a change over to Intel.
