Fx-60

Hi all,

I now have the money sat here waiting for the fx-60 to be released. Just looking for more info on it but cant seem to find much else apart from "FX60 slower than FX57"...... Is it worth upgrading to from an fx55? Will i benifit anything in games etc? Im looking into overclocking when i have my system set back up and i believe that overclocking dual core 2.6ghz would be quiet good.

Any info or descisions on helping me decide wether to get it or not would be greatful. Thank You!

Release date still Jan 10th?

Personally I'm going to stick with my FX55 for a while until the software catches up a bit. I suppose it doesn't make much sense for software houses to be programing games for the top few percent of PC users (according to the Valve survey, most people are still @ 2 Ghz CPU's with 9800's).

My 2 pence worth.

Release date is Jan 10th.

In games, if that is what you are primarily doing with your PC you can beat the FX57 for the performance.

Dual core adds a new dimension and in the next 12months or so games will be optimised to take advantage of this technology.

If you are into heavy video encoding dual core is a must have - even nvidia and ati drivers have dual core optimisations already that help close the gap on single core CPU's in games (but there is still a noticeable gap).

The FX60 brings with it a new dimension as it will have a fully adjustable multiplier which should bring Clawhammer clocks to dual core processing (I am expecting phase cooled clocks in excess of 3.35Ghz with the FX60).

More details can be found on the other FX60 thread - dont expect more info to be leaked until after the yule holidays.

There is one for sale on another forum for $1100 the guy says it will boot into windows at 3.4 but no proof only proof of 3.0 oh and it has the cold bug at -25

Fx60 is slower stock but as Mav proved in his benchies the 4800 runing at 3.2 is almost as fast as the 55 at 3.5.If the 60 can get nearer to that mark i'm sure it will be quicker.

And as Mav mentioned with new drivers coming out all the time that are dual core optimised it will be the one to have.

Then in april the fx65 comes out :O hmmm I am unsure what to do might sell my 57 or just hold out, I just can't keep up :(

It's a problem for sure with each chip comes a hefty price tag of £700+.

If you keep the 57 it will be worth less when you sell it,saying that the yours is a wk16 so should fetch a good price.Dual core is definatly the way foreward if you don't change now by April you will.

Mines a week 22 xpmw same as mcmad's who got his up to 3750 :O mine will do 3600 but unstable 3500-3570 benchable
