Fragtek....HELP me!! :)

I will say one thing about the X-Plosion. I went from an older Audigy ZS to the x-plosion on crappy speakers and didn't think it would do much of a difference until I got something else. I was wrong. OMFG can you notice a difference in the cards. I will never run anything from creative again now that Frag has led me to auzentech cards :) Thanks Frag!

Tharr be the proof! :) Auzentech rules the audio domain at a better price point than Creative. Hooray for X-Plosion!

Out of interest twisted5, where you using headphones? I do have a very decent set of Linn speakers that I run my Hi-Fi through, but I also plug them into my PC when I want to listen to music. I'm in no doubt the soundcard will help in this department. Additionally I'm in no doubt that when watching DVD's it will show a noticible difference in quality over my Audigy ZS.

However as I use my PC for gaming 95% of the time, this is where I'm most interested in. I find gaming through headphones much better than using speakers, especially in games like CSS where sound is everything!! However I've never really noticed much difference in the Creative cards when just using headphones as I think the benefits / differences only become apparent when using better quality speakers, etc. I might be totally wrong though.

Ham, you're more than welcome to buy them off of me, but I've already contacted Overclockers to ask about returning them and putting the money towards the X-Plosion. If they won't let me return them however and if you're still interested, we can sort something out.

Don't get me wrong, they're not bad headphones at all, but I'm just used to a certain type of sound and found them hard to use.

Cheers,

Ins.

I had some sennheisers come to think of it. They were amasing. i used them for my guitar but i trod on them :( they were unfixable. They do any cheap 5.1 headsets / headphones that you can point me to?

Sennheiser do a lot of headsets, but afaik they don't do any ones that are 5.1

It depends on how much you want to spend, but the PC 160's are meant to be top notch for gaming! They are slightly pricey, but well worth it imo!

Overclockers seem a good place to get them from as well but check out our friends at Special Tech!

Steer clear of any of the new Creative products mate... They're overpriced sh*t.

There has been a great deal of company switching with the HDA cards recently. They started as HDA, switched to BlueGears, and now have once again switched to a new company named Auzentech.

Quite simply put... THE best sound cards on the market at a fraction the cost of other cards by different companies, namely Creative.

Just keep in mind. My first card in my last comp was an X-Fi XtremeMusic and it was t3h ub3r suc|<. The best thing I ever did to that computer was put the X-Fi out of its misery and install my X-Mystique (which was then later upgraded to an X-Plosion). The X-Plosion is going to give you the best of both worlds (music & gaming). The X-Mystique is an awesome card for music if using the analog outputs, but using Dolby Digital Live or equivalent optical outputs gives you great mids and highs but the bass is subpar (too be expected as DDL isn't a music standard). Now the X-Plosion incorporates DTS which is straight up pimpin' in the music department via optical/coaxial. Both cards will also rock your socks off in games, great sound dynamics that really put u in the center of action.

I highly recommend either of the cards, but for only a bit more the X-Plosion is your best bet.

Cheers mate!

Well said mate! Creative cards lick monkey nuts! HDA FTW!

And there's mah backup proof :p ^^^

Eguy speaks the truth in this matter. In fact he's the one that originally turned me on to the HDA cards. At first I was a bit skeptical myself but I can say with complete certainty that HDA cards completely blow away the competition.
