Fractal R4 gaming rig

Hi Guys.

Thought I'd finally post a few pics of my rig in its current guise.

The machine I have today has been upgraded so many times, it is nowhere what it was when I first built it. I am now a bit of a silence freak, and I love clean, minimalist elegance. I hate to think of the amount of money and time I have poured into my rig, and I know I'll never be finished with it, but that's why I love, it can always be better.

Enough of my prattle, here are the 'current' specs:

CASE: Fractal Design R4 Windowed Black.
MOBO: Asus Crosshair V Formula.
CPU: AMD FX8320 OC @4.21 GHz.
CPU COOLER: Corsair H105 AIO with 2 Corsair SP120.
RAM: 16 GB (4x4) of Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866Mhz, OC 1912Mhz.
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 with EVGA Backplate.
PSU: OCZ 700w modxstream pro power supply.
SSD: Samsung EVO 840 120GB.
HDDs: 2 x Samsung spin point 1TB.
OPTICAL Drive: Panasonic BD Reader/ DVD RW.
FANS: Front 2x Fractal 140mm Case fans, Back 1 x Corsair AF 140 White LED.
Cable Accessories: Akasa 24pin Braided cable extension, 1 X Akasa 8pin and 1 x 6pin GPU Braided cable extensions.
Keyboard: MS Comfort Curve 2000.
Mouse: Razer Deathadder 3200 dpi (pre 2013, best mouse I have ever owned).
Display: 24" AOC G2460PG G-Sync screen.
Controller: Wires XB ONE Controller for windows.
Speakers: Creative 2.0 speakers (hidden behind screen).

Not much else to say. Hope you enjoy the pics and let me know if you have any suggestions or comments about where to go next or what you would do.

Cheers. :)

Have had that 1 for about 4 years. What do think is wrong with and what would you suggest changing it to?

Our forum member "Wraithguard" had his pc totally fried by an OCZ cpu...

Ohh damn... I didn't know OCZ made CPU's now as well?... they must be shit though since no one has them

And I didn't know that... but thinking back, may be cause of that he got that nice PC from Tom?, or am I mistaken?...

Yes I had a 500w OCZ ModXstream which went "pop, fizz, funky purple smoke" I can laugh about it now, but wasn't funny at the time, I had been warned many times on here even by Tom that they were garbage. It killed my HD6790 and SSD, everything else thankfully survived.

@Chrazey the stuff I got from Tom was a result of being chosen along side Barnsley during the Borg Air PC give away. (if memory serves correct) :)

Ohh well, fair enough then mate... still, even if you would have gotten it because of that, it wouldn't have made it any less meaningful/worth it! :)

Very true, it's one of the single greatest things that has ever happened to me, and I will always be eternally thankful to Tom and OC3D.

Well I can say for sure you are more than worth it Wraith, you're one of the biggest names on here, in my eyes atleast :)

Looks pretty cool, although I'm not too convinced about the coloured plugs :) The RM 750 from amazon is only about £10 cheaper. Apart from changing the PSU post haste, is there any other feedback about my rig you wish to provide?

Cheers for the advice! :)

I didnt go for looks on the psu it was more about the power delivery :) and even with an overclocked 8320@4.5ghz plus a very power hungry R9 290x the fan barely spins up as for your rig its a nice clean build :) I think you could overclock that cpu some more with a decent psu seeiing as you have a really good mobo

I was thinking that. Couldn't get a higher stable oc, but I think it's due to the PSU. Will be looking to replace it an the next few weeks.

So based on my rig specs, would you suggest a 650w or 750w for a stable oc? I'm only looking at 80 plus gold psu's but there is quite a price jump between 650 and 750.

The 650 would be ample for your rig, as rough estimate I would guess it pushes 550Watts flat out, and that an over top figure, but if you want.more overhead and to make sure the PSU not get stressed and for any future upgrades, then the 750 will be overkill.
