Folding@home is now more powerful than the world's top 500 Supercomputers combined

That's absolutely insane. Trying to wrap my head around those kinds of numbers....what's even more insane though is 78 active folders on team 98860!

There was a time last month where we had over 100. Seems we have lost a few on the way, but it's great that we have so many folders ATM.

But can it run crysis? :D

Well, a lot of the systems running Folding@home can. Folding@home itself, probably not, the lag would be insane, even if it was possible.

I just installed a folding client on my ISP router which is Arm64 based :)

Nothing seems to be downloading though and no activity in TOP

Folding project has been going for at least some weeks. Can anyone tell me any result that shows this is actually "a thing? I mean, are there any real results of the research using this tool?
Hope this is not being use for other purposes than the intended one, that's why i think folding project should share publicly their investigations.

Ohh BTW, with this amount of processing power, there is not a single security firewall on the earth that could cope with it keeping their security under control.

This will all be written up in research papers later, but this will all take time.

A lot of the computing projects are created by different groups and target different things, such as potential locations for drug-based treatment, and mechanisms.

The article linked below highlights how Folding@home simulations have uncovered an opening in the COVID-19 protein that can act as an area for drug-based treatments.
