First Time 3770K Overclocker

Dicehunter

Resident Newb
So I just updated my bios and lost all my settings for my 4.60GHZ overclock on the 3770K :(

I'd put the settings back but the problem is that a collegue of mine did it for me, He's on holiday and he didn't save it to a profile so I have no idea where to start.

Mobo is the Sabertooth Z77, I did have a look in the bios but the settings made me go cross eyed as I've only ever worked with AMD boards which in comparison to Intel are very simple and even then it was only a minor overclock.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most greatful :)

Ok got it back up to 4.60 Jiggerherz ^^

Using XMP Profile Overclocking got my Memory back to its speed of 2133MHZ using 1.65v on the Memory and 1.28 on the VCore for the CPU, 46 on the Multiplier.

Have'nt actually touched anything else and it seems stable for now, Load temps in AIDA64 of 51'c.

Should I disable anything ?, Speedstep, Spread Spectrum, Turbo, C1E etc...

For the most stable overclock, EIST (Speedstep) and Turboboost should be turned off. But, this does mean that your processor runs at 100% clock speed all the time, which results in higher idle temps.

Ok so a quick update, Turned off all C1E stuff, Turbo, Speedstep, Now running at a stable 4.60GHZ with an idle temp of 32'c, Load temp of 66'c and finally the vcore is set at 1.24 and DRAM running at its rated 2133MHZ with 1.65v.

All in all quite happy with my first real IB overclock ^^

*EDIT* Managed to boot into windows with 1.20 vcore, Was stable for about 20 minutes, need more fine tuning :D

Sorry How can you know its stable shouldnt you run whatever programme you use for like 9-12 even more. I use prime95 and do a torture test for around 9-12Hours. You did like an Hour 30mins of testing I put my 3770k @ 4.6 in 8Hours I got an error. Am I missing something here :/

Sorry meant to update the thread, I've ran numerous tests since, OCCT, Prime, All passed the 12 hour mark with 1.26 on the VCore :)
