First person shooter backwards sound issues

Id try resetting CMOS on mobo, uninstall all drivers cleanly, check connections and start from scratch. I know I sound like a broken record repeating things but its the only way to eliminate the fault. Remove the sound card completely and try the green input on mobo.

Also soundblaster used to allow the option of providing you with a topdown view or 3d Image in the GUI where you could manually drag and drop/move the speakers around the central point to adjust the sound. You could then have actually put the left speaker on the right side and vice versa. I could do this on my old Audigy 2 soundcard to get the perfect sound placement for each speaker. It had separate config for speaker setup and headphone.
 
He's already tried a different sound card and still has the same issue. (USB device that allowed reverse stereo to be set in the config) No idea whether he's tried using the on board yet, but he's also had the same issue after a fresh re-install.

(right click on the speaker icon and select playback devices then click on configure and select test) The SB pro audio panel should have a similar test available too. This will tell us whether everything is reverse stereo or just games. If you then fade to one channel only using the balance control (in the levels tab under properties when "speakers" is selected through playback devices) then test out a few games, media playback etc and see if the problem is consistent.

Now this is the werid part.

Okay in my sound blaster options this is what i have

Now on the speakers setting, turning the L ear down, it does infact play out the right ear, and viceversa

now here is the werid part doing the windows L/R test option... it plays sound out both ears... like L plays out left and right and R plays out R/L

I've tried on board mobo sound it's the same it's reversed ingames and stuff.

I've front my front I/O panel as well

Your sound card is outputting in (what I thought it might be) 5.1 surround.

Creative cards sometimes output weird channels over weird plugs when setup like this.

Which means the channels are all fucked. You need to find the setting on the sound card itself which puts it back into proper stereo / headphone mode.

You should not see level options for c, sub, lr or rr at all

but what I still dont get is onboard/front I/O is basically same as the soundcard all reversed

under "mixer" and then in the speaker settings. cause there is no headphone option besides to disable/enable them

on the screen above can you now drag the speakers to opposite sides? Old Audigy cards allowed you to do this which was the reason why mine were reversed.

On my old audigy, I could re position those speaker icons in the diagram. What I had done was actually drag the one on the right side, over to the left and vice versa which is the reason why my sound was reversed.

what dirvers are you actually using thogh? for creative to have "what yo hear" as a recording option they must be reasonably old. they removed that option from most drivers a while back due to "it makes it easier to steal music"

i had hell finding drivers that still had that option so i could record my mixing.

Alright heres a list of what i've done


I've bought 3 different headsets.

I've bought a RCA/3mm splitter to try and switch the L/R

I've built a basically new computer MOBO/PROCESSOR/HD/VIDCARD/CASE

I've bought a soundblaster Z soundcard

I've tried Ipod headphones

I've reformatted tried many different windows7 ISO'S

the only thing i've found that worked was IF i used my old 5h v2 USB sound card and installed drivers and click the reverse L/R option


I'm dying to play again.. I can use my 5h USB soundcard, but it isn't loud as the soundblaster Z or anything thats why i switched
