Hi guys

Ive finish building my rig yesterday (took me 5hrs)

My current specs:

Intel i5 4670k
msi gd65 gaming
G.skill 8gb @ 1600
Msi r9 280x
Intel mSata 30gb ssd
WD 1tb blue
Corsair tx650M
Corsair h100
Corsair m65
Cheap keyboard
24" monitor
and win7 home edition

This is my first build, i use to just buy a ready pc before now im hooked into this building hobby.
I think i did everything right but im experiencing problems

1st: it goes into infinite boot loop until i unplugged the powercable or it boot up if i hold down the power button in either the mobo or the case
2nd: it always go to the bios whenever i successfully turn it on or restart it.
3rd: it wont find the dvd drive

I cant access the internet through it to update the drivers because i need to install from the cd that came with the mobo.
Im happy with the rig but i wish i dont have this issue maybe one of you guys has the same build or similar that can help im really stuck.
Thank God we have smartphones.

Thank you
Gjames

Re-seat the 24 and 8 pin cables, unplug everything that is not necessary to turn on like dvd drive, gpu, mouse, keyboard and try to turn on with just one stick of ram. Also use the clear cmos button on the back panel to reset the bios.
Whenever it goes into bootloop does it show a debug code on the LED at the bottom of the board, just right of OC Genie and go2bios?

It might also be worth powering it up outside of the case to make sure the motherboard isn't shorting out on anything...

Hi heres what ive done.

Before i put everything in the case i test it on mobo box w/ the anti stat plastic on top to see if its working. I only put 1 stick of ram on dim2 and the h100 and i also tried with the stock cooler then it goes into the boot loop i though its going to be fixed if i update the bios. Every time shutdown and i hit the power button its looping i have to press it and hold it to make it boot. There is no debug code because it only turn on for a sec.

As for issue no.2 i manage to update the bios and its goes to windows now thanks.
And for issue no.3 its just me panicking i didnt put the sata canble properly.

This afternoon i will try with a different powersupply but its an old psu a 550w cooler master do you think its worth a try?
Im dying to play bf4 hahaha

Hope someone is still reading my post. Ive tried a different psu and it works fine. Clearly the psu is the problem but im wondering why it works fine on my old pc no bootloop issues.

Probably the combination of the Haswell PSU problem and the fact that the old rig was alot less demanding from the allready aged PSU you tried it with first.

Future tip: if you are going for a new buld you really want not to save money on not getting a new PSU to go with it.
Bad old PSU's can actually damage your hardware in the worse case if they don't give out the right numbers to the system.

Also a 30 GB SSD for the OS? that's a bit on the small side sinve for best performance you need to have 20-25% free space on it.
To save alot of space on it start by turning off "system restore" for the OS SSD.

Hope this helps! ^_^

If I'm not mistaken this is a Haswell Chip, there are known compatability issues...

Hope this helps.

Thank you it explained a lot.
But after i read this.
"TX-M (All Versions): TX550M, TX650M, TX750M, TX850M, TX950M"
I'm thinking my PSU is manufactured before haswell chips came out because
my psu is one of them. TX650M ive bought it from a friend.

but then why does my old PSU which is a Cooler Master 550W work fine, but i dont want to use it because there's no 80+ certification.

i though somebody will notice my SSD ;D. I only use it as a cache well I've tried to install my OS on it and its fast but after all the updates and drivers it gave up.
Now I do have a proper SSD 256gb and i haven't use it. Its really a pain to install all of that MSI drivers and utilities again. maybe one of this days after my psu problem is solve.

Next time you test your mobo leave the anti stat plastic, because sometimes, depending on the bag, they can be conductive on the outside when the mobo is powered up. Better safe than sorry. You're fine with just the box. Cardboard is not conductive.

thanks for advice.. Its just my PSU doesnt support c6/c7 state. have to get a new one.
