Firefox boss attacks Windows 10 over the default browser settings

Hmm well I think they fixed this already, because the defaults box comes up asking you which one you want to use.

I like the defaults thing, it's a nice addition. Makes it easier to set up Windows in one go rather than making apps default one by one :)

Bit of a sensationalist title don't you think WYP ?

You took the words out of my mouth ! seriously, this part of the forums is becoming Yahoo! more and more by the day.

MAN CHOPS OFF HIS HEAD !

Then you click on the article and he's actually taken the head off of a spot with a razor.

Sort it out. It just leads to arguing and infighting.

I don't get this drama.

Isn't this to be expected? Every software does this when you install it, unless you specify otherwise. For example, when installing iTunes it wants to be the default app for all media files.

The way people are talking is like Microsoft blocked any other browsers from being used.

If someone was smart enough to download FireFox in the first place, then they'll be smart enough to click the shortcut for it and say "yes" they want to make it the default browser. Or they'll be smart enough to not do the "Basic" Windows 10 settings in the first place.

Took him longer to whine and complain about it than it would for people to literally just download FF, open it, then change the default app when window pops up asking. What is that? 20 seconds? Probably took him 20 mins to write all that.

When I finally got my system up and running on windows 10 I didn't do the customise bit on the install, because I just wanted to get it running and activated.

Now that it is I have started to customise it including, changing the browser and other things but it took me a whole 1 minute to change the browser default within firefox and the system settings.

I ran the upgrade Wednesday night - it left Chrome as default, didn't have to change a thing.
So far quite pleased with Windows 10, haven't had any problems (yet)

Yes your right but that is cause you did an upgrade not a clean install. It changes once you do a clean install.

Changes to Edge, but you use edge to download the Browser Engine of your choice then once you open it up the prompt comes up and asks if you want to make it the default.. literally 5 seconds.

Honestly don't see the problem... at all! Upgraded to 10Pro, it asked if I'd like to continue to use firefox as default browser, clicked yes, job done.
