Finally Some EXPERT Magic with X2 4800

Well done mate nice to see you have finally tamed the expert board.

Just in time to tune mine :p

I think i will have it back now

I also improved in PCM04 and PCM05 - but mike the greek just got himself 4 raptors in RAID and boosted his scores up to 8800 in 05 :(

Still the UK's best for 2005...... every cloud has a silver lining :)

Now i want to see you crack 03.

Looking forward to getting into a few benchies of me own soon, things are looking good for team EP

Should be able to whip it all up - withthe kit u will have at your disposal me old pal - only Gollum can stand in the way of your domination ;)

So before all that happens - just wanna stake me claim as UK's best bencher for 2005 - certainly for consistency throughout the whole year :)

Just got my order in for the Expert, first sign of a dodgy vdimme rail and shes going straight back, my ram are to nice to die, again.

Mav how much has it improved your cpu overclock using the expert? Does it work well with your Bh5's?

This board is one of pleasure and pain.

Not for a while (since DFI Infinity Skt A mobo) have I found such a quirky motherboard. Superpi32m stable at 264x12 one minute - next BSOD BLUES!!

Changed to all beta BIOSES up to 25/11 (not been able to run DDR624 OCZ TCC5 yet) and they are crappy.

The best release for more was the first one on the board I blew up where I easily scaled 300+FSB and benched at 297x11 (with crappy timings and divider).

This replacement only ran at all with the modded 704-2BT BIOS ported over from the non EXPERT to EXPERT by OCZ Tony - thats what I used to get the scores above with my BH5 ram (old skool not VX, GX, ZX or Redline).

Now I am playing with the latest 07/12 BIOS off DFI beta site - it's the best one so far - not great but best so far.

I am superpi32m stable at 264x12 versus 261x12 on non expert. Still some tweaking to do and I am sure more BIOS will mean more stability. I am concerned with voltage fluctuations though - will keep you updated.

It can be the most frustrating and rewarding board in the space of an hour - I dont know whether to laugh or cry half the time :@ :O :D :?

Me wants to know more please:rolleyes:, Hows its general stabillity with the high voltage rams?

Mav where did you get the bata bios from? I've just been looking for it on the dfi site but couldn't find it.

Did you find it a problem to fit the mach evap head to the board more so than the normal dfi nf4 boards?

Mav have you ever considered using either Dice or LN2 to see how how you could get?

Or even using pelts/prommie on your 7800's

My Dfi Expert just arrived:) , I just checked it for the same dodgy trace work that the first batch had done to them and I am glad to say that its not present on my one.

Gonna install it tonight and post my opinions on the mobo soon.

Mav whats the best bios for the bh5,ch5,ut ram on this board.

I cant tell yopu abotu stability just yet it's too early - I have just been benching and finding my feet overclockng.

Beta Bios can be obtained here:

Head was easy to fit - no less or more easy than the original.
