finally able to build my PC!!

well the time has come. i can finally afford my PC. i thought it was gunna take until Black Friday or later, but due to some careful planning and the fact newegg is running its sales all month long, i can actually afford my PC right now! (sorta) lol. so hopefully ill be placing my order tomorrow evening. this is what itll be:

Case: Fractal Arc Midi
Mobo: ASRock z77 Extreme4
CPU: Intel i5-3570k
PSU: Seasonic X650W 80 Plus Gold
HDD: 1TB WD Black Caviar
Monitor: Dell 2312HM IPS 23"
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K90

as you can see, this isnt a complete gaming PC build. in order to be able to build my PC earlier, ive had to drop a couple of things for the time being, most notably the GPU. the one random amazon order is because its $60 cheaper then it is on newegg. in addition to that i would still like to add replacement fans for the case, replace the crappy stock heatink. and depending on when Fractal gets its butt in gear and release its announced product, eventually add a nice side panel window. and even still sometime down the road, id like to get a UPS.

that said, i do already have a couple of pieces for the build. an SSD for the OS (which i also have) and whatever else. as well as the RAM and the most important part, a mouse

so needless to say i still got a ways to go before id feel like im completely done. the GPU alone will be about a month from the purchase of my PC. i only get paid every two weeks, so the next check will be saved for bills for December, then the check after that could be for my GPU. so it could be 4-6 weeks before the GPU comes along. i post this here in case anyone wants to add any opinions or suggestions. i know atm its a simple box and its not much to comment on but yea, figured id post anyways and feel free to comment on anything

have you tried to use PCPartPicker?

you can "faux" build a parts list and it'll price it out using the least expensive
vendor that might carry that item. as well as experiment with deffo parts..

although i am a big FD midi guy.. unless you can score it for $50-$60 pass and
use the corsair 200R. the midi usually is $100 so that $40 in the kitty. the RAM
being 1333 is ok, and the R2 fans in the Midi are fair. these parts are not deal
breakers. the RAM id liked to have seen 1600/1833 as the intel CPU are speed
freaks. speaking of speed, id rather like to see you into the MSI Z77A-GD55 or
65 board. the GD55 and the Xtreme4 are good in power phase control, but the
GD65 is smoother in power mamangement.
for GPU, use the onboard until a dedicated card can be secured for playing enjoyment.

dunna know if the keyboard purchase now is a good move over system performance.
your call.. but i'd use a POS board until the speed and graphics are liked. then
treat yourself with peripherials..

actually i did get the Midi for $70, on sale on Newegg! still slightly more then the 200r but im fine with that. the reason i have 1333 RAM is because i bought it almost two years ago. for all i know it could be DOA RAM, which at this point would mean trash can, but RAM is cheap so i was never worried.

i had looked at something similar to that site (if not that site) however, i feel much more comfortable buying everything from one site, and a site im familiar with at that, and have bought from before (being Newegg and Amazon)

and i got the keyboard just because. saving that $100 wouldnt mean anything as i couldnt really put it into anything else important. i could get the H100 or the fans, but id rather have the keyboard first.

and yes, i will be using onboard graphics for the time being, dont have a choice.

lastly the only reason i really got the ASRock board was 1) price and 2) colors. im just not a fan of blue, be it lights or on a mobo. i know you wouldnt really be able to notice the blue on the board (assuming a windowed case ofc) but yea, id just prefer the gold/black of the ASRock boards.

FMod im glad you responded as it was really because of you i realized i would be able to build my PC before next year! i very very much appreciate your input and help over the last couple months. and in the end i know ill be extremely happy with whatever parts i end up buying. thanks again mate!
