Final i7 Build

I am in the final process of building my computer I have picked the following components and on a few areas I am struggling the build will be used for extensive web browsing, java programming, 3d modelling, web design and I want to play games on it such as Crysis and a few others ( I do have a Xbox 360) i just fancy trying pc gaming.

I have chosen the following

Budget is £1100 maybe a little bit more.

CM HAF - X should I add extras fans to improve cooling??

i7 2600k - I want to overclock to 4.5GHz for 24/7 or the highest possible on air.

Motherboad is were I am stuck I am thinking p8p67 pro or a z68 but I don't no the differences between the two is there a specific board used more geared to O/C.??

128GB SSD for O/S and few programs to boot from I have a 2TB External HDD which I will use for data.

Cooler am leaning towards the NH-D14 or the Be Quiet Dark range I know most on this forum favour the D-14 I have read review on bit-tech that don't like the NH-D14 and recommend the Dark Pro and reviews on this site recommend the NH-D14

PSU - AX850 - hopefully 850 should be enough power to run my system as I am not going down the SLI route just

yet.

GPU - gtx 560TI all the reviews I have read highly recommend this card as it's O/C potential is very good also I do fancy this card. It should run Crysis and a few other game on high setting right??

8GB Mushkin Backline RAM -recommended as per another post

That's it should I stick with the products can you advise me and give a reason please

If your using a dedicated GPU then you will not need the Z68 board.

Had a linx stable 5.0ghz(99,89x50 cpu-z) with i7-2600k on gigabyte z68x-ud7,but f@h stable at 4.8ghz(99,89x48) @1.392v.

Your other choices are good,but for nearly the same price and aircooling in mind,have a look at silverstone raven rv02 or rv03.

If you want highest possible oc on i5-2500k with nh-d14 at a reasonable price,have a look at p67 sabertooth.

I'll say it again, £1100+ to spend, GTX580 and don't skimp on a 560.

With the price drops in places, even a 570 would be minimum.

And at 1080p and Vsync.. Well, there's no point in doing £60.

Mind you the 570 would probably go on for a bit longer, but at £170 even if you replaced it once every year or so it's not going to break the bank.

Ed. Rasta I do see your logic, but the 6 series are not far off. Not from what I hear any way. And if they're anything like the 5 series then most are going to want to switch I guess.

I run a GTX 470. I had it overclocked but there's just no point. At 1080p it performs like a champ, and in gaming it's only a couple of frames above the TI.

On the TI - Get the 470 Amp !.

It's cheaper and better. There's also a mass of headroom for overclocking on that cooler dude.

Have a look over that. I've had mine solid @ 755mhz with no voltage increase. I hear that with very small voltage adjustments they go to 850.

They're incredibly quiet, I've never had to set the fans more than 50%.

As do the 470s 'like for like' so to speak.

The Ti clocks higher over all, yes, but the underlying GPU isn't as good. Stock to stock the 470 wins, in four out of the five games they were tested in. Not by an awful lot, but still enough to secure more performance. In Vantage the 560 ti looks far better, but that's just synthetic. The 470 also has more Vram, not that it's needed right now, but it will in the future.

The amp (even though it's sold out now so kind of irrelevant) has a far better cooler too. It's quieter and will provide lower temps. And then the final and most important part - price. It was £25 cheaper. That's around 15%.

Even if they were the same over all (they're not, the 470 is better by a whisker) it then comes down to noise heat and price.

Ah, here we go. Firstly I will up the 560 ti 3DM11 score. Please note though that this system is OCed to within an inch of its life. The GPU and CPU are having the nuts thrashed out of them and the 2600k pees on my 950.

Sorry it's squished, but from what I can make out that 2600k is @ 5.1ghz. My 950 was @ 3.06. Now let's move onto a 470 @ 755mhz linked shader no memory overclock on a stock 950.

I would pretty much assume that my 470 in that system overclocked to breaking point would best the 560ti quite easily. Especially if I wanted to push it to 850mhz.

Am sticking with the Ti I have just had an email request from Aria requesting verification documents as the delivery address is different to the credit card billing address they want copies of documents I do think this is normal

Is this a thing they request often??

most companies wont even consider shipping when they dont match consider yourself lucky they are asking for verification yes this is normal

I've emailed them back as I have never had to do it before and it doesn't seem right I used my girlfriends credit card to buy the stuff to save time but it's taking longer

I'd rather cancel the order then order on my own card to avoid this problem sending personal documents to a company i've never used before to be allowed to buy stuff

Sorry dude just being silly but no, that isn't correct. First up the 470.

What you need to take into account is -

The 470 GTX launched and sold for £350 and was the second fastest of the series launch.

The 560ti launched and sold for £200, and sat third in the lineup. All the 560ti is is a 460 with some spit and polish and a high clock.Underneath the 'hood' the GTX 470 laughs at it.

The only thing you will possibly find on the TI that outspecs the 470 is the clock speed. The 470 out folds it too and even in the tests I have outfolds the 570. I didn't really want to get into it too deep earlier but the 470 is a far better card than the 560, mostly due to it being designed for the high end. Once cooled properly they are awesome cards.

there is no dught that the NH-D14 is the best air cooler but if you were leaning towards a be quiet one then they would do the job just as well because the 2nd gen i7 doesn't need as much voltage to get to a high clock and it doesn't get nearly as hot as the 1366 i7's get to, either the dark rock pro or dark rock advanced would probebly performe just as well.

both are cheaper than the D14 and in my opinion look alot better.
