W11 has a better CPU scheduler and Auto HDR which works beautifully in FF14, I honestly don't see a downside for the average user.

That's very true, unfortunately Microsoft is removing your choice if you want to stay on a supported system. Just like Win95 and Win98.

This is why I dual boot Windows and Linux and over time will eventually move away from windows entirely.

I don't like being spied on 24/7 and used as a data farm, Yes I know everyone does it but it doesn't mean I have to like it, Lay down and take it, If I can mitigate it to some extent then I will.

Linux does the same crap. /looks at Centos.

I may be bitter because every time we roll out new PCs at work we get the same users complaining that the new systems are so much slower than the old. If that were the case the current i5 systems with 20 cores and 32GB of ram would be slower than the old P4 1GB systems from the early 2000's lol. Someone people just don't like change. I can be in that camp when change happens, but it's not better (Win11 settings menus), but change is just a fact of IT for better or worse...

Edit: To add, I've never had any of these users be able to say what is slow, they will say "Everything is slow".

I don't think I'm really complaining. I just don't care for the new one. It's essentially the same thing with more spyware built in.

As for Distros, Dice, I personally like Pop!_OS. That's a good one in my experience for gaming and simplicity. I wasn't a big fan of Mint(used a few years ago it's changed since), Ubuntu, elementary OS(admittedly used very very shortly). ZorinOS I found was a decent windows alternative. Tries to be as Windows as possible to make it an easier transition to Linux.

So far I've tried Mint, Garuda, Bazzite and Nobara, Settled on the latter for now of which is really good for gaming and getting every little bit of perf out of your hardware. Will give Pop!_OS a try though.
