Faulty motherboard?

Hey guys, I got my new motherboard about a month ago, its just a crappy Asrock one, But even though it is cheap it should still work fine, but it doesn't. A few times when I have been the bios it has crashed and then last night I was sweating it out on Mass Effect 3 when the computer just shut down, it then attempted to start up but then shut down again, it kept on repeating this, the fans would start whirring then just stop. I tried clearing the cmos and after I did that it would boot up and then ask me if i wanted to go in to safe mode etc but when I click on anything it just shuts down again, I tried installing a new os but then it gives me an error "-----.dll is not installed" or something like that. Now, the ram I currently have is not supported by the motherboard and was giving me a lot of bluescreens but for the last week or so I have been on xp 32 bit and it has worked fine. So what im wondering is, does this sound like a motherboard issue or could it just be the ram?

Cheers

Could be RAM, have you updated the BIOS? usually BIOS updates fix RAM related issues, could also be your PSU though.

It shouldnt be the psu, its a pretty good quality thermeltake one, 500w. I tested it with different ram and it did the same thing so I am guessing its the motherboard, only got it a month ago so I should be able to get a refund, Is there any good atx boards around the 50 quid mark anybody could recommend? Cheer

are you sure the ram timing and voltage is correct? if so then yes could be mb. I would double check cpu settings as well, kill any o/c and check your voltage and temps. also as others have said check for bios update and reflash.

500w power source also could be overloaded if you are trying to power too much on one rail. check you psu rails to make sure you know what rail is powering your cpu/mb/videocard. check to be sure you have enough amps on each and reconfigure if needed to spread the load out. edit if you have a single rail psu disregard.

well, theres a lot that has been said and not said. and it is hard to diagnois half the story.

could you list your system, current operating system, and bios version.

i hadnt had asrock issues like that other than a bad PSU (auto loop). but you cleared

the BIOS (factory default) and the OS is now XP 32-bit.

the few times in the BIOS, what was changed?
