Far Cry 3

To start this game is VERY fun, once you get around the monstrosity known as uplay.

This game seems to suffer from SERIOUSE stability and frame issues.

My rig is:

i5 2500k 4.6ghz
x2 GTX 680sli
Gigabyte z77 mobo
8gb 2133 Corsair dom plat
120gb force 3 ssd
500gb momentous xt
1tb hitatchi deskstar
320gb WD blue
Asus Xonar STX essence
AX850

Obviously my specs have the ability to play this game maxed out, and I do, and it works... For a little.

After about 45min of play things really start to happen. I use EVGA precision to monitor temps and they never hit 80c (this game gets abnormally hot, the loading screen makes furmark burn test look like a amateur tool). That aside this is not a temp issue. Here are some things that happen.

BSOD
SLi will stop working
game will crash to desktop with no error

My GPUs are not overclocked, in fact my stock overclocked superclocked evga card is underclocked to my other stock 680 specs. I ran everything from mem test to PC doctor and everything is golden. I can run benchmarks, burn tests, super pi, other games for endless hours and never have an issue. So the problem is defiantly the game causing the above.

Looking around I am not alone. Has anyone found a solution to this? Also I have the latest 314.22 Nvidia drivers.

The solution is to delete the game and try not to get annoyed at how much you spent on it. That's what I did. I got to the point i redid a mission 6 times and it kep crashing I'm sure I'm near done as well but I just thought I couldn't be bothered with the constant crap and deleted it. There is no fix

I only spent 29.99 so I am not worried out. It is hit and miss with reliability for the game. The Ubisoft and Uplay forums are riddled with FC3 issues.

aw man i have had non stop trouble with it. tried with and without sli. tried lowering graphics settings to see if the problem was my pc wasnt manly enough. LOL. that wasnt it. i just had never ending problems with it and the thing is when its going its a quality enjoyable game, but i ralely had an hour it didnt crash. i had the same problem with tomb raider. patch. no problems since

I had stuttering problems with FC3. To fix it though, I disabled in game AA and used SweetFX to do SMAA.
I also disabled post processing, all it does is give you that blurry effect when moving fast, it also blurs the scenery in the distance.

To disable post processing altogether though, you have to do it with the games .xml file in

%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3

Just ctrl+f and search PostFxQuality, then set it to false like this (with quotation marks) PostFxQuality=”false”

With SweetFX doing SMAA and Post processing and in game AA disabled, it should give you a good performance bump and make the game run a lot better, it did for me anyway.

I have only used SweetFX in BF3, but I have heard that with FC3 DX11 does not work? Did it work for you?

I read that it doesn't work on DX11 for FC3, but it worked for me.
Not sure if I was using a newer version of SweetFX at the time, or it was because I disabled Post processing and MSAA, all I know is it worked for me.

If you try it make sure you are using the latest version of SweetFX, download on the page of this link.

I'm on AMD.

So if green and red are having problems then it must be.....
