Fan Terminal Block and resistor

This is my first post, and I hope this is the right place to ask this question, so here goes...

I have six Cooler Master R4 120MM fans running in an Antec 1200 case. I've connected all six fans with a terminal block to one molex power. They all run like a champ, but that's my problem. My CPU is now water-cooled, so I'm hoping to ramp the fans down a bit to lower the fan noise. I'll still have plenty of airflow to keep the rest of my internals cool. I'm fine with all six fans running at the same rate, as long as it is slower and quieter. My question is if I can solder a resistor into the power(positive wire) leading into the terminal block to lower all to an equal rate. If so, how do I know what value of resistor I need.

Thanks for any and all help.

If they are running @ 12v they'll be using the yellow & black wire from the molex which is 12v. If you use the red & black wire from the molex instead you get 5v. So as long as this is enough to start the fans you should be good.

I'll give it a shot. Not sure if 5v will be enough, but I'll try it. I was hoping to reduce it somewhere between 5v and 12v.

Thanks
