Fallout 76 is "entirely online" and offers a "solo" option

Just the same as how it works in Destiny. Fallout is so baron I look forward to it being a bit more populated.

Being overly baron is what I had issues with too. However the problem with following Destiny style is that they can get involved in your kills too, plus if you have 500 people running around an area in a game like fallout, it makes you think like the entire population survived the nuclear incidents so removes the "baron" feeling altogether.

There needs to be a balance between the two. Right now it's too empty. Making it like Destiny will make it too crowded. Although.. give it a month and many will have quit or finished the game and stop playing anyway :)

Not everybody wants to play multiplayer. Especially since it's a "solo" option yet you still play with other people. It's misleading and just F* dumb honestly no matter how you look at it. They mine as well not even have that option. It's not Destiny. It's Fallout.

Some people just want to play alone and not have some raging teenager screaming at them at the top of there tiny lungs because you are trying to have fun instead of try harding. The solo option just removes this. Still have to play with them. Still deal with trolls. Still deal with griefing. Etc.

In fairness a Fallout MMO has been on the cards since 2001. Interplay planned to do it. Then they sold half of the rights to Bethesda (offline ONLY) and then Bethesda squeamed and squeamed and spent money over fist and hired lawyers until they had that too. So it's been a very, very long time coming.

I'm apprehensive about it but we will just see how it goes. I've never played a MMO of any sort before so it may be a new experience on me. I played COD for about 30 mins with the public and stopped. So yeah, hoping they allow private servers.

Most notably -

- Modding will be present in 76 but not at launch
- Private servers will happen

Which is exactly why I'm waiting to see how all that shakes out before buying the game. I was genuinely surprised to hear talk of mod support which is why I shared the video on the last page. If they do this well it could be phenomenal, but I'm just too apprehensive to buy it at launch on a promise of mods and private servers. I need to see it in action before investing. I don't know if that's being cynical or sensible...

Yeah that's true and I assume they will balance the maximum number of nearby players to not make it seem overly full.

I only compared to Destiny from a tech perspective, that's where it ends.

Yeah but a lot of people do want to, so we get 1 game you've had 3 games in the past decade. I want a chance to enjoy the Fallout lore as the concept appeals to me.

Well I look forward to visiting the OC3D wasteland and schooling all you mo fos :D

I'll have you sniped in your sleep or while you add the finishing touch to your villa de iron rust.

The Division 2 announcement of the sniper specialty class just got me hooked instantly. There is something special about firing a sniper rifle. Maybe its because I have fired them during my air force years.

It feels so addictive in comparison to the spray and pray firing I see people do.

The whole point is that they f* up by not allowing you to play alone when you choose a solo option. It's a useless "feature" easily solved and gives best of both worlds

I'm not against the online part. However to turn the game long loved for single player and modding into something else and then give it a half assed solo feature is what angers me. It could easily be solved and get the best of both. I'm not even going to get it nor have I ever played a Fallout game. That doesn't mean I know people who can't handle an online experience. I have many family members who are admittedly very poor at games. What should be a 10 minute mission for most people takes them nearly 30/45 minutes. If they are forced to play online the amount of grief and trolling they will get wouldn't end. They would always be behind the others and confused as to why they aren't doing much without realizing others already did everything. It's basically just being carried. That's not fun. Which again is easily solved but a weak feature ruins it.

If I had my .50cal from New Vegas you would die very quickly. It was so powerful that when you shot it a flame would come out of the barrel, and it could take down a deathclaw mother from about 500 yards.

I wish they hadn't messed all that up in FO4 :( I miss my dart gun dammit ! I want to snipe people, then hear them scream and die lmao.

I hear you!! First one I'll unlock. My current favourite set is sentry with a variety of snipers.

Used them a lot in fallout too - in every game for that matter.

What did you shoot in real life?

it was just a training exercise. But after experience with the SA80 I got hands on an L115A3.

I hit one target out of 5 which is pretty crap. But the thrill was great. No interest in other weapons. It was just that patient moment, setting sights, range, account for discrepencies, the breathing, and everyone there supporting you, yet completely silent.

I still abhor fire arms in personal life and see them as a pointless deterent.

I am so far behind in Division one. Currently at level 21 again, but I always had a hybrid sentry setup. Look forward to hitting 30 and pushing for the gear again.

I can't even imagine, sadly, but can understand the thrill.

Ha ha well if you need someone to help you level ASAP I can. Am on all 6p classified on multiple sets.

Ill pass on the boosting thanks. Prefer to work for it. I like the challenges, and will be a nice time sink. Will add you on Uplay when I'm at my home machine.

Just add me then. I think my user name is Luminub

I'm already at level 25. Got a nice stash of gear from my main char when I hit 30.
