Fake SSDs? Counterfiet Samsung SSDs spotted at online retailer

When buying from aliexpress I tend to buy from "Aliexpress brands", managed to avoid being scammed like this for many years now, so when buying SSDs I'll buy from kingspec or Kingfast or Netac, they're not free from contoversy either, with the usual component changes during the lifetime of the models that sometimes causes reduced performance but until now I've been satisfied, just bought a 2TB PCI-E 4.0 SSD from kingfast a few weeks ago, it arrived perfeclty and performaing great. As a good rule of thumb, I like to buy the new products where they'll make sure the first batch will perform the best so they get good reviews and then they start cheaping out on components in the a few batches down the line.

When you go for the big brands on such marketplaces you should expect to be scammed.

I mean, if you order from AliExpress it's pretty much to be a gamble just like Wish and the newest descendant: TEMU. You're most likely getting scammed or it's just pure plastic trash and e-waste.

Nope, wish mostly is, wish is like the hub for scams, aliexpress, shopee, alibaba or dealextreme you mostly get what you paid for, just need to actually read the reviews to see if things are as good as they claim, things are cheaper there but mostly if it's too cheap, either it's a scam or the thing is just really really bad at its job, reviews will tell you.

Another thing is what I said on my previous comment, buy things from the brand store, you will not find official Samsung or LG or Sony stores on these platforms, but you will find an Anker official store, 8bitdo, hifiman, ifi, kingspec, Baseus, etc, those are well known brands that actually try to compete with good products at a good price, as long as you're buying from their official stores it will be exactly what you ordered, unless, of course, someone makes a mistake, I personally have ordered a couple 1m USB C cables from Baseus and got 3m ones, that was clearly a mistake, I didn't complain because I got more expensive cables but also I'm only using one, the other is just stored In a drawer because it's just too long for what I wanted it, still, no harm in having a spare cable.

It will be a gamble in the same situation that it will be at Amazon, you buy a 15U$ 4tb external SSD from an unknown, weirdly named store and expect to get what you paid for. Honestly, I said it's a gamble but it's actually asking to be scammed buying this way gets you scammed in any platform be it ebay, Amazon, aliexpress or even Walmart, that should really be common sense but people keep getting scammed like this somehow.
