Facebook goes down; taking WhatsApp, Oculus, and Instagram with it

I agree with everything above. They can collect all of it. But with not using cloud and social media services I keep my private life private. There is not a single picture online with me and my last girlfriend together. We have many, but we never posted them on any social media platform, and my phone is not syncing with iCloud or similar "give us all your data" platforms. Everything private is never online.

I'm in the same camp as you, I don't have anything to hide but I like my privacy so I don't put up pictures, I don't use social media and my phone although an iPhone is used maybe 20 seconds per day to use a game authenticator, Weekly report shows 5 minutes of use or less :D It never takes pictures of anyone and information I enter on it or store on it is very limited.

I find identification gathering by these companies beyond creepy and I wish more people would take privacy seriously.

Even DVLA were entitled to sell some of your data. They used to have partnership deals with companies that specialised with personal license plates and as soon as you hit 18years old and had a valid license, you got some ad/offer in the mail if you wanted license plate W4R 2

I wish stuff like that was outlawed.
