Facebook Dislike button coming 'soon'

I can't see it being a straight up dislike button. Uhhh, if it gets anything like reddit then I will just quit all social media.

Closed all of my social media accounts about ooo, 18 months back and haven't looked back.

It was always against my moral code as some one with autism any way. Just glad I stopped, it gives people a looking glass into your life. Sod that !.

As for the dislike button? tbh? the thing that annoyed me more than anything on facebook was when people would like their own posts. You know, kinda like a lion licking its doodads?

Not something I care about much.

Although I imagine people will like being able to "dislike" a sad status update, like someone lost a job, or someone's pet died. It looks awkward when people "like" something about a dead pet/person or other sad things.

Okay so I've just read a news article on a Dutch tech site that said they are working on an empathy button, but not a dislike button.

I decided to do some research, mainly by watching the original video that so many news sites based their "Facebook is making a dislike button" articles on and found that it is simply untrue.

In a Q&A Zuckerberg was asked why users were only able to express their feelings about a post in one way, the like button, and why there were no 'interesting', 'I'm sorry' or 'Dislike' options available.

Zuckerberg replied that many people have asked about this and that "Today is a special day, because we are working on it". He then went on to explained that it is not going to be a Dislike button as they don't want to turn Facebook into a forum where people are voted up or down.

He then explained that people often said that they don't want to have the ability to downvote, but rather express empathy for others. Because not every moment is a good moment. As an example he named the Refugee Crisis and for instance the passing of family members. The new button would mean that people can show that they understand and/or can relate to you.

He then said "I do think it's more important to give people more options than just like". Options being plural, so maybe multiple buttons might be added over the next few months, or years.
