EYEfinity

Well, according to AMD one of the connections has to be display port, so if you have one HDMI and one VGA it's not going to work.

So what you need to do is get a display port to HDMI adapter, which i'm sure is the yellow one that comes with the 6850 (I have one myself) and run the HDMI lead into the adapter and the adapter into the display port on the back of the GPU and then the other end into your monitor. Once you have done that you should be able to set up Eyefinity.

I don't know how you set up Eyefinity because i have never done it but the AMD website and Google are your friends.

I have two monitors connected, one by VGA and another by DVI. So I'm not sure if connecting via HDMI and VGA is the problem.

Try either one of these:

1. Go to Windows screen resolution and change the second display to duplicate desktop and see if there is now an option in CCC along the left side that says AMD Eyefinity Multi-Display.

If it is there click on that option and follow the instructions. If not try 2.

2. Go into CCC then Desktop Management, Creating and Arranging Desktops. Right-click on your primary monitor and select create group then yes. It should then prompt you to choose what eyefinity layout you want (2x1 or 1x2).

I hope this helps

okay peeps - here are the facts...

sieb is correct... eyefinity must include a monitor connected to the display port on the GPU-IO

AMD have have changed the CCC gui - before (with Ati), the spanning displays and eyefinity option-panels were completely different... NOW, they have been merged them into ONE option-panel.

this, obviously have left alot of users confused - you think you have an eyefinity set-up, when infact you only have extended desktops.

any number of monitors can be arranged (in any array(2+)), and the DISPLAY RESOLUTION can be set for spanning the desktop area over these. it looks like eyefinity BUT is NOT.

when looking at a game/application that uses this technology, the NON-central displays' FOVs will be twisted:

(30/((n-1)/2)), where: 30 = half the eyeFOV(degrees), n = number of monitors(3 or more (odds))... offset from the central monitor's -Z axis

To be honest i don't know how Eyefinity works i am just going off what it says on the AMD website but according to SPS he has eyefinity set up using DVI and VGA.

Like the other thread it turned out the information on the AMD website about needing at least three screens was wrong because now we know it can be done on two screens as SPS proved.

if it's not giving you any options for eyefinity then something in the set up is wrong, have you tried using the displayport to HDMI adapter to see if that is actually the case?

thanks just ordered dp to hdmi ! but its not active so its a test if you need to buy an active dp adapter

I've just tried it with VGA (with to DVI adapter) and HDMI and it still works fine, so I don't really know what the problem is, maybe reinstall CCC?

What do you want to use Eyefinity for? To play games?

It's really difficult to play first person games because of the screen bezels and if your screens are not exactly the same size it makes it even harder.

It seems like it's taking a lot of effort to set this up and I really don't think it's worth it for 2x1 eyefinity

If it was me I wouldn't bother mate :/

think about it - the monitor bezels will intefer with the crosshairs in shoot'em'ups, and with other games EVERYONE'S focal point of interest is the center of the screen (this will be a bezel for you)

hence the reason why eyefinity arrays are required to have an ODD number of monitors (horizontally)
