Expensive PC yet i need help...

Don´t spend too much on it and save the rest.

I would go for:

-Asus Rampage Extreme III

-Intel i7 980X

-Corsair Dominator XMS3 12gb DDR3 2000

-Asus Xonar Essence STX

-2x EVGA 580GTX (SLI Mode)

-Case i would suggest (Lian Li, Corsair)

-Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB

-2x 2TB Western Digital Black

-Seasonic X-Series X-1000 1000W

Also i would go for water cooling, you have the money so why not. Let someone build that rig for you if you dont know what to do.

As Headphones which you may need too, i would go for either a Sennheiser HD800 or a Denon AH-D 7000.

This PC will be lightning fast and you will have fun with it

If your budget allows it I second this setup

it seems to me that gtx 580 is pretty popular. Would it be worth getting the nvidia kit with it?

The GTX 580 is the fastest single gpu card on the planet and with two you have enough power to play games on the highest settings for the next 3-4 years. You can also add another one for tri sli if you feel you need the power. And by kit do you mean you 3d vision kit. If so it depends on you. People are complaining that the effect does not last long.

Also depends on your personal opinions on 3D.

wait a couple months for a AMD HD 6990 to come out, and get two of them.absolutely no point going for the 5970 now. or get 2 GTX 580s.
