EvilWeevil : Project Air-Con

Got bored, made this: :)

The two CCFLs have just arrived, and I've popped them in - looking good. When I've mounted them properly I'll post photos.

I'm considering various options for the switch, but I'm thinking just modding a PCI plate. The other condsideration is that so far about 2 in 5 times turning on the lights causes one of my HDDs to power off and spin up again. (Same cable from the PSU) I'm reluctant to run another cable down, but I'll see how it does. Not a disaster, as it's not the Windows one, but a bit of a nuisance.

As promised, it's the new year and I'm thinking about water cooling as well as a graphics upgrade. I doubt I'm going to jump right abord DX10 and get an 8800 now, so the thing to think about is water cooling. I haven't had any thoughts about actual items, but I've drawn up a preliminary design for how it will be laid out. As I'm new to water cooling, any faux pas pointed out will be gratefully received. The PSU will move to the bottom bay as shown. Clockwise, by the way.

Another possibility would be keeping the PSU where it is and having the rad at the bottom of the side, pump in the bottom PSU bay.

well if u want performance id put the rad @ the bottom, for looks rad @ the top. hot air goes up cold goes down. if u are gonna put it on the bottom id get some lian li feet, or case wheels

Also air is easier to get out of a bottom rad than a top-mounted one. Having said that: my Lian Li makes it impossible to do so :(

Nothing exciting, just as I'm going watercooled I'll need a new project name. One half of Air-Con will no longer be accurate :)

Suggestions please!

Just a brief OC'ing update - I've got it stable at 3.0GHz, have been pushing further but the increasing volts have produced temps I'm not happy with.

This means watercooling is a must for me to continue, so I'm looking at options, I'll have a chance to upgrade in about 4-5 weeks.
