EVGA GTX 1080 Roundup

Just noticed a small mistake:
"Right now you can Pre-order the ASUS GTX 1080 SC and FTW are available for Preorder"

Needs to say EVGA not ASUS :)

Yay. The FTW version has 2x 8 pin power connections. If I had the cash that's the one I'd be preordering.

As i have said EVGA has nailed it again in terms of design and also IMO they didn't go over the top with LED light not like other companies.

The 1080 Classified PCB is in the open and being shown off on the EVGA Twitch Podcast right now, sporting 14 power phases and 2x 8Pin power connectors it looks beastly. And they are running the FE 1080 on various games, just watched Doom and Rise of the Tomb Raider for over an hour and here's a couple of little FACTS for the AMD bias fanboy naysayers, we have witnessed ZERO throttling or 100% fan speeds even with a 100Mhz boost on the core to 2000MHz and the memory running at 5000Mhz.

Here is another interesting card.

Well others have experienced it. More than one. All you know it was freezing cold in that room which is why it didn't throttle.. not saying it was but fact is that one person says it's not, whereas multiple people are. I'd be more inclined to believe the multiple.. if you want depth on it, look Jayz video on it. There isn't fanboy naysayers..it's just the truth for the FE

A Classified should not throttle even in a warm room. Having said that the Classified is about as far away from a FE 1080 as you can get.

Nah the Classy is going to be hardcore baller, what NBD is referring to are the reviewers who clearly didn't know how to install a card and set up the fan curves properly. I know J2C hit on the thermal limit when he reviewed the Founders Edition and once the curve was set properly he was seeing epic performance. This is no biggie IMO it's something that nVidia can easily resolve with a simple update, the launch was inundated with haters that hit on that one little issue and blowing it way out of proportion.

Instead what they should have been doing is saying "Damn that's one impressive GPU" I hope AMD pull out all the stops and fight back hard, they need to be right in nVidias face this year. I'm genuinely excited to see what Q3 and Q4 brings.

He didn't set a profile. just set it straight to 80% fan speed.. but why should people do that? It's loud!Who wants to spend the kinda money for a noisy GPU.

He does say it thermal throttles. Just like every other reference cooler has done with top end hardware.. in this vid, card never went higher than 1800mhz. Even with more headroom available. So on an open test bed, it was throttling. In a case? That's even worse. AIBs won't have this issue, but the reference does. I don't see why you think it's such a big deal.. every reference card has this issue. Just the limits of the style of cooler.
