hi looking for abit of advice.. Im building my own rig and have got the budget to splash out on the GPU.

so what would be better gtx 760 4096mb in a 2 way SLI or a single gtx 780 ti to get the best gaming and performance experience because is strictly a gaming rig

help

What resolution will you be gaming at?

Either way, I agree with Edge. Less driver issues, power consumption, noise and heat and you can always toss in another GTX 780 Ti at a later stage.

The GTX780Ti might be a bit overkill for 1080p, and you'd get by fine on a GTX780, but don't let that put you off getting one, I still would ;) Either way, go for the single card solution over SLI if you can help it. The best way to do it is to get the best single GPU you can afford, and then add a second later down the line when you need a boost.

so if I had 2 way sli with gtx 760 it will match the 780ti or slightly better? but I can get 2 760s for £500 and the 780ti is costing me near enough £100 more. but wen you take in the power consumption with 2 GPUs and the heat, noise, the higher PSU i'll need.so the more value for money is 780ti and i can always add an extra 780ti in a years time. would you agree?

less issues, the price right now is about the same, will be better for the 780ti in the future though because of power consumption. two 760s will slightly beat the 780ti, but i really wouldn't bother with that stuff.
get a 780ti/780. you could add another one, but i'd just wait for volta and then get a new gpu.

Amd mantle ????

can someone explain in a simple way what mantle is ? also is mantle even up and running yet for games like bf4 ? and do i need to have AMD CPU for mantle? well confused

also how does radeon R9 290x compare to a gtx 780ti in terms of performance

gaming at 1080 res

The 780 Ti is like a big kid in a small playground at that res. It always amazes me how people can consider spending £500 on a graphics card but have a £150 monitor. I mean, 1920x1080 is barely bigger than 1680x1050 which most would consider a dinosaur resolution by now. Single gpu is always best though like others have said.

GTX780Ti is exactly, I mean exactly enough for 1920x1080 when you turn on all HBAO, MSAA x4 or x8 and AI filters... fps space drop on half when you turn such function... Without filters GTX770 is perfect for gaming but if you want clean picture GTX780Ti is enough and no 1mm space.
In some games it's not 60fps and with GTX780Ti.
With GTX780 you must to drop MSAA on x2 or x4 or it's not nice to play.
OK I talk about 10-15 games, that's 1% of games but new and interesting.

nah you don't need an AMD cpu for mantle and eventually mantle won't be confined to just AMD GPUs. The 780ti is the fastest single gpu card you can buy. The 290x is the second fastest single GPU card you can buy.

i have a 1080p monitor, but i'd still consider dropping 500+ euros on a gpu. 144hz is in another league of smoothness and i need a high framerate for that.
