Epic Leaving PCs Behind

It's a shame, but UT3 seems crap :(

Saw the same with iDSoftware and quake4, basically a console game ported to the pc. So many bugs, slow FPS and overall crap.

On PC vs Consoles, I think Consoles can be better & having a keyboard and mouse might bring them up to compete better with PC's. The only thing letting them down is the way the hardware is limited.

When a new generation console comes out (eg xbox360) it's normally quite good and can compare to an expensive PC. After time the PC gets new GPU's etc and is above the Console again.

Consoles are getting better I guess, but I'm not sure if they could truely beat the PC. The only way it could do that is if developers go console only.

I was looking at the prices of the xbox360 the other day tho and it seems a lot cheaper now ( £140 for acade version  )

Reading between the lines I feel that this may be an unfortunate trend for the future. Given the amount of software piracy today software developers are obviously wanting to protect their IP and get full value for their invested time and money. PC's are just too much of a risk to IP and developers would want to stay away from anti-piracy measures like root-kits and the like. Especially after the recent balls-up's from Sony.

Porting straight to 'consoles' is deffo the safest route for developers to take, and one which I'm sure many more will look at very seriously in the long term. Furthermore, they aren't going to have to bother with coding for so many variables (i.e. pc hardware - low to high end); they simply have to ensure that it runs on the 2 to 3 current consoles - XBOX 360, PS3 and or Wii/PS2. It makes a lot of sense!

Most ports to consoles from PC games are very good now imho and better than they were a few years ago. I'll still stick to my PC for the mo' tho'

I dunno m8, the console piracy thing is pretty competitive.

I don't know about the PS3 or WII but if you modify your xbox then you will lose any xbox live capability, considering over 50% of xbox users have a LIVE account that does stop a lot of people.

More than likely a way around it. If the PC gets kicked out of the gaming ring.. pirates will turn to consoles(even more than they are now).

But meh, we will see. :)
